Iron Fist (countermeasure)
Iron Fist (, ''Hetz Dorban'', lit. "Porcupine Arrow") is a hard-kill active protection system (APS) designed by Israel Military Industries (IMI), with a modular design allowing adaptation to a range of platforms ranging from light utility vehicles to heavy armoured fighting vehicles. The concept was revealed by IMI in 2006 and was expected to enter Israel Defense Forces tests by mid-2007. The system has been successfully tested against a wide variety of threats including rocket-propelled grenades, anti-tank guided missiles and tank-fired high-explosive anti-tank (HEAT) ammunition and kinetic energy penetrators. It senses incoming threats via a fixed active electronically scanned array radar sensor developed by RADA Electronic Industries and an optional passive infrared detector developed by Elbit Systems, Elbit's Elisra. When a threat is imminent, an explosive projectile interceptor is launched towards it. The interceptor explodes very near the threat, destroying or deflecting and ...

Iron Fist APS
Iron is a chemical element; it has chemical symbol, symbol Fe () and atomic number 26. It is a metal that belongs to the first transition series and group 8 element, group 8 of the periodic table. It is, by mass, the abundance of the chemical elements#Earth, most common element on Earth, forming much of Earth's outer core, outer and inner core. It is the fourth most abundance of elements in Earth's crust, abundant element in the Earth's crust, being mainly deposited by meteorites in its metallic state. Extracting usable metal from iron ores requires kilns or Metallurgical furnace, furnaces capable of reaching , about 500 °C (900 °F) higher than that required to smelting, smelt copper. Humans started to master that process in Eurasia during the 2nd millennium BC and the use of iron tools and weapons began to displace list of copper alloys, copper alloys – in some regions, only around 1200 BC. That event is considered the transition from the Bronze Age to the Iron ...

Namer was developed by and is being assembled by the Israeli Ordnance Corps. It has entered service in limited numbers with the Israel Defense Forces since the end of 2008. Due to budgetary constraints, the introduction of the Namer into the IDF has been slow, leaving the ground forces dependent on the M113 until 2027. History 1990s–2004 The experience of converting Centurion tanks into armoured personnel carriers (Nagmashot, Nagmachon) and combat engineering vehicles (Puma armored engineering vehicle, Puma, Nakpadon), followed by the conversion of many T-54/55, T-54 and T-55 tanks into IDF Achzarit, Achzarit infantry fighting vehicles, further promoted the idea of converting Merkava tanks into heavily armoured armoured personnel carrier, APCs / IFVs. This concept was also d ...
