''Asphodelus'' is a genus of mainly perennial flowering plants in the asphodel family Asphodelaceae that was first described by Carl Linnaeus in 1753. The genus was formerly included in the lily family (Liliaceae). Irit Batsry (Hebrew: אירית בצרי; born 1957) is an Israeli-American visual and installation artist. Biography Batsry graduated from the Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design in fine art in 1982. She moved to New York City, and became an instructor and on-line editor for ''Film/Video Arts''. Through her career she has produced experimental videos and installations that have been shown around the world including the National Gallery of Art in Washington D.C., The Biosphere in Montreal, the Musee de Arte in Rio de Janeiro and the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofia in Madrid. Her work is in the collections of The Museum of Modern Art, and The Whitney Museum of American Art, among others. Irit Dinur () is an Israeli computer scientist. She is professor of computer science at the Weizmann Institute of Science. In 2024 she was appointed a permanent faculty member in the School of Mathematics of the Institute for Advanced Study. Her research is in foundations of computer science and in combinatorics, and especially in probabilistically checkable proofs and hardness of approximation. Irit Lillian (; born 1962, in Rehovot, Israel) is the Israeli Ambassador to Turkey. When Naftali Tamir was recalled as Ambassador to Australia, Lillian became the Acting Ambassador. Irith Pomeranz () is an Israeli electrical engineer known for her research in circuit testing and fault tolerance. She is a professor of electrical and computer engineering at Purdue University and a Fellow of the IEEE. As of 2019, her current research includes: Test generation, design for testability, built in self test and diagnosis of integrated circuits. Education and career Pomeranz is a 1985 graduate of the Technion – Israel Institute of Technology, and completed her doctorate in 1989 at the Technion. Biography Irit Linur was married to Alon Ben David, Senior Defense Correspondent for Israel Channel 10 and Middle East Correspondent for Jane's Defence Weekly. Literary career Linur started her writing career as a satirical columnist in local newspapers. Her first full-length novel was ''The Siren's Song'', a best-selling romantic comedy set on the background of the Scud missile attacks on Tel Aviv during the Gulf War in 1991. In 1994, the book was adapted into a feature-length film directed by Eytan Fox. The title refers to the air-raid sirens which sounded almost every night during the six weeks of the war.
