Irish Air Corps
The Air Corps () is the air force of Republic of Ireland, Ireland. Organisationally a military branch of the Defence Forces (Ireland), Defence Forces of Ireland, the Air Corps utilises a fleet of fixed-wing aircraft and rotorcraft to carry out a variety of duties in conjunction with the Irish Army, Irish Naval Service and Garda Síochána. The headquarters of the Air Corps is located at the Casement Aerodrome in Baldonnel, County Dublin. The Air Corps has an active establishment of 886 personnel. Like other components of the Defence Forces, it has struggled to maintain strength and as of December 2023 has only 689 active personnel. Unlike the Army or the Naval Service, the Air Corps does not maintain a Military reserve force, reserve component. EADS CASA C-295
The Airbus C295 (previously CASA C-295) is a medium tactical transport aircraft that was designed and initially manufactured by the Spanish aerospace company CASA, which is now part of the European multinational Airbus Defence and Space division. Work on what would become the C-295 was started during the 1990s as a derivative of the successful CASA/IPTN CN-235 transport aircraft. Baldonnel, County Dublin
Baldonnel () is a townland in west County Dublin. It is an industrial/agricultural area near Rathcoole, Clondalkin, Tallaght, Lucan, Saggart and Naas. It is around 15 km west of Dublin city centre. The name derives from former landowners in the area; the earliest written record of the name comes from a 1717 deed for Baldonnell, which lists alternate spellings of Baldownan, Balldonnan, and Ballydonnell. Two surviving local houses (the oldest to the north of the airfield, and the newest further east in the same area) claim the name Baldonnell House, and the ruins of the original house are located to the east of the airfield. The River Camac flows through the townland before flowing by way of Corkagh Park to join the River Liffey. Irish Naval Service
The Naval Service () is the maritime component of the Defence Forces (Ireland), Defence Forces of Republic of Ireland, Ireland and is one of the three branches of the Irish Defence Forces. Its base is in Haulbowline, County Cork. Though preceded by earlier maritime defence organisations, the Naval Service was formed in 1946. Since the 1970s a major role of the Naval Service has been the provision of fisheries protection in Ireland's exclusive economic zone (EEZ).
