Iris Kramer
Iris Kramer (born 22 June 1981) is a German International motorcycle trials rider. Kramer is notable for winning six German Women's Trials Championships, three Women's FIM Trial European Championships and the 2007 Women's FIM Trial World Championship. In 2011, Kramer was named an FIM Legend for her motorcycling achievements. Biography Born in Darmstadt, Germany, Kramer first competed in the German Women's Trials Championship in 2002, winning the title that year and successfully defending in for the next six years. She competed in the FIM European Championships in 1999, becoming the first Women's European Champion after finishing ahead of Norwegian rider Linda Meyer. In 2000, she again took the championship ahead of Spanish superstar Laia Sanz. Kramer's third European title came in 2001, narrowly beating Laia Sanz again before Sanz turned the tables on her in 2002. Motorcycle Trial
Motorcycle trials, also known as observed trials, often called simply trial/s (with or without the plural "s"), is a non-speed event on specialized motorcycles. The sport is most popular in the United Kingdom and Spain, though there are participants around the globe. Modern trials motorcycles are distinctive in that they have evolved to become extremely lightweight, lack seating (they are designed to be ridden standing up) and have suspension travel that is short, relative to a motocross or enduro motorcycle. Motorcycle trials is often utilized by competitors in other motorcycle sports (such as enduro, motocross or road racers) as a way to cross-train, as trials requires fine throttle, balance, and machine control. FIM Trial European Championship
The FIM Trials European Championship is organised by the Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme and has been held since 1992. The championship gives up and coming riders a chance to compete at international level against top class riders, many who have progressed to become champions in the FIM Trial World Championship such as current champion Toni Bou and past champions Dougie Lampkin and Adam Raga History The Inaugural championship was held in 1992 with a single class format. In 1999 a women's class was added in part due to the addition of a women's class In the FIM Trial World Championship series the previous year. The FIM Trial World Championship and FIM X-Trial World Championship are the most prestigious motorcycle trials tournaments of the world, organised by the Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme. The outdoor championship is held since 1964 and the indoor (X-Trial) since 1993. From 1964 to 1967 the championship was named Challenge Henry Groutards. From 1968 to 1974, it was the Trial European Championship, and from 1975 onwards it has been known as the World Championship. Up until 2010, the outdoor world trial championship has been won by 6 different pilots from the UK, 5 from Spain, 2 from Finland and France, and 1 from Belgium, Germany, United States, Japan and Sweden. The Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme (FIM; en, International Motorcycling Federation) is the global governing/sanctioning body of motorcycle racing. It represents 116 national motorcycle federations that are divided into six regional continental unions. There are seven motorcycle-racing disciplines that FIM covers, encompassing 82 world championships as well as hundreds of secondary championships: enduro, trial, circuit racing, motocross and supermoto, cross-country, e-bike, and track racing. Laia Sanz Pla-Giribert (born 11 December 1985), also known as Laia Sanz, is a Spanish sportswoman. She is a fourteen-time Women's Trial World Champion and ten-time Women's Trial European Champion in outdoor motorcycle trials. Gas Gas is a Spanish motorcycle manufacturer established in 1985 by Narcìs Casas and Josep Pibernat in Salt, Girona. The company specializes in off-road motorcycles for trials and enduro competitions. Gas Gas was purchased by KTM motorcycles in 2019. After the sale to KTM, Gas Gas's off-road models were purchased by Spanish motorcycle manufacturer Rieju. Company history In 1973, Narcìs Casas and Josep Pibernat began operating a Bultaco motorcycle franchise in Salt. With the financial demise of the Bultaco factory in 1979, Casas and Pibernat began importing Italian SWM motorcycles until 1984 when, the manufacturer ceased operations. Casas and Pibernat then embarked on a programme to manufacture trial motorbikes for sale in their shop. Scorpa
Scorpa is a manufacturer of trials motorcycles based near Alès, France. It was founded in 1993 by Marc Teissier and Joël Domergue. The first model produced by the company was the WORKS 294 in 1994, powered by a single-cylinder, two-stroke Rotax engine. In 1998, Scorpa signed an agreement with Yamaha Motor Company to use its engines in subsequent models. The final range included trials bikes ranging from 125 cc to 249 cc, in both two- and four-stroke variants. Scorpa also produced "long ride" models, that were mechanically similar to the SY trials range, but with a larger fuel tank, and a seat to allow longer trekking use.
