Irena Vrkljan
Irena Vrkljan (21 August 1930 – 23 March 2021) was a Croatian writer and translator. She was born in Belgrade and was educated at Zagreb University and the Deutsche Film- und Fernsehakademie Berlin. She lived in both Zagreb and Berlin, writing in both Croatian and German. Vrkljan wrote scripts for film and radio. She also translated works by Croatian authors into German. In 1964, she toured the United States, sponsored in part by American Women in Radio and Television. Alliance For Women In Media
The Alliance for Women in Media (AWM) is a nonprofit organization created by women in 1951 that works to support women in the media in the United States. About The mission of the organization is to "advance the impact of women in broadcasting and related fields." Its members also provide support for educational programs and scholarships, and do charity work and other public service activities. Scholarships are available for women who are pursuing careers in media. AWM presents the Gracie Award annually to recognize women's accomplishments in all media, especially for programming created by and for women. Vladimir Nazor Award
The Vladimir Nazor Award ( hr, Nagrada Vladimir Nazor) is a Croatian prize for arts and culture established in 1959 and awarded every year by the Ministry of Culture. Named after the writer Vladimir Nazor (1876–1949), the prize is awarded to Croatian artists for achievements in six different fields of art and culture, and in each category every year two separate prizes are awarded - one for life achievement (for overall contributions to their respective field), and another one, commonly referred to as the "annual award", for a single piece of outstanding work in the field created over the previous 12 months. The winners for the preceding year are usually announced around 19 June, the anniversary of Nazor's death, with prizes handed to recipients in an official ceremony usually held in July.
