Chapada Diamantina
Chapada Diamantina (; Portuguese for the "Diamond Plateau") is a region of Bahia state, in the Northeast of Brazil. This mountain range is known as “Serra do Espinhaço,” in Minas Gerais state, south of Bahia. Description The Chapada Diamantina lies at the center of Bahia State and forms the northern part of the Espinhaço Mountain Range. It has approximately and encompasses 58 municipalities. Technically this region is considered a part of the caatinga biome, and contains some of its highest elevations, most of it above . The vegetation; a product of the physiographic conditions, is known as cerrado, and consists of rocky plains, dry forests, and caatinga desert vegetation, all of which harbour a great deal of biodiversity and unique endemisms. Conjunto Santa Rita
Conjunto Santa Rita is a complex of limestone caves in the municipality of Iraquara, Bahia, Brazil. It is long and the target of traditional pilgrimage. It contains numerous offerings on the altar and inside. The cave has two large parallel galleries joined by a smaller gallery being both associated with a lower slope. About 600 m have been mapped. The highlight of the cave is a spectacular calcite run-off resembling curtains of over 12 m tall, besides beautiful stratigraphic features on the walls. Gruta Da Torrinha
Caverna Torrinha (BA-037) is a cave located in the village of Torrinha, 15 km from the town of Iraquara and 1 km of the highway BA-122, inside of the ''Área de Proteção Ambiental Marimbus-Iraquara'' (north of the Chapada Diamantina National Park), in the State of Bahia, Brazil. It is considered the most beautiful cave within the area of the state, having the second largest flower of aragonite in the world. Geology The first part of the topographic mapping (600m) was made in 1992 by Meanders Speleological Group, from France. The cave was discovered in 1850 and has three routes open to tourist visits with one of them that can be covered within 3 hours. Today there are only 14.000 meters mapped. The tourism industry has become the main source of income for the administrator of the local people and neighbors.
