Universities
A university () is an educational institution, institution of tertiary education and research which awards academic degrees in several Discipline (academia), academic disciplines. ''University'' is derived from the Latin phrase , which roughly means "community of teachers and scholars". Babylon University
The University of Babylon (Arabic language, Arabic: جامعة بابل) is a university located in Al Hillah, Babylon, Iraq. It consists of 20 colleges within three compounds, located seven kilometers south of the city of Al Hillah, Hillah, in Babil Governorate, Babylon Province. The campus was originally the Administrative Institute of Babylon. Later some of the buildings were adopted for use by the medical college of the University of Kufa, before being established as a university in its own right in 1991. The university now teaches a wide variety of subjects, and during the 1990s, started teaching night classes. These became popular, especially among well-off families, after the increase in difficulty of high school examinations in 1997. Samarra University
University of Samarra is an Iraqi public university that was officially established as a university in the beginning of 2012, after it had been affiliated to the University of Tikrit. The beginnings of the university go back to 2000 when the Samarra College of Education was established as one of the colleges of Tikrit University. The study began in it in the same year with three departments: Arabic language, history and life sciences. In the 2003-2004 academic year, the Departments of Chemistry and Qur’anic Sciences were created, and later the English language departments, the Physical Education Department and the Geography Department were introduced, followed by postgraduate studies in the departments (Quranic Sciences - Arabic Language - History - Chemistry). University Of Mosul
The University of Mosul () is a public university located in Mosul. It is one of the largest educational and research centers in the Middle East, and the second largest in Iraq, behind the University of Baghdad. The University of Mosul was closed by ISIS (Islamic State) in 2014 but reopened just after a few months with new buildings and courses. Over 8,000 books in its library were believed to have been destroyed. The university was considered to have been used as a base by ISIS and was hit by Combined Joint Task Force airstrikes in March 2016. Iraqi forces recaptured it in January 2017. The University of Al-Qadisiyah () is an Iraqi university established in 1987 in Al Diwaniyah, Qadisiyyah Province, Iraq. History The University of Al-Qadisiyah was established on 23 December 1987 through a resolution (no. 159) passed by the Revolutionary Command Council of the Saddam era. The resolution ordered the establishment of four universities; the University of Al-Qadisiyah, the University of Kufa, the University of Tikrit, and the University of Anbar. Originally, the University of Al-Qadisiyah began with two colleges; the College of Education and the College of Business and Administration.
