Iran–Kuwait Relations
Kuwait and Iran have longstanding historical ties spanning hundreds of years, particularly in the pre-oil era. Relations were negatively influenced by the Iranian Revolution in 1979 and the Iran–Iraq War in the 1980s. Relations improved after the Iraqi invasion of Kuwait. 20th century Historically, Kuwait had close political, economic, and cultural ties to Iran. In 1961, Kuwait became an independent country. In the 1980s, Kuwait sided with Iraq during the Iran–Iraq War. As a result, Iranian–Kuwaiti relations were damaged and Iran had placed Kuwaiti ships, including tankers, under attack. Kuwait's relations with Iran later improved when Iran denounced Iraq for invading Kuwait in the Gulf War at 1991. 2016 Attack On The Saudi Diplomatic Missions In Iran
The 2016 attack on the Saudi diplomatic missions in Iran was a mob action on 2 January 2016 by protesters demonstrating against the execution of prominent Saudi Arabian Shi'a cleric Nimr al-Nimr, Sheikh Nimr al-Nimr. Mobs stormed the Saudi embassy in Tehran and the Saudi consulate in Mashhad and ransacked them. The Embassy of Saudi Arabia, Tehran, embassy building was set on fire with Molotov cocktails and petrol bombs. During the attacks, the police arrived and dispersed protesters from the embassy premises and extinguished the fire. The attacks were later condemned by Supreme Leader of Iran Ali Khamenei, and Iranian president Hassan Rouhani. Evaz
Evaz () (Arabic: عوض) is a city in the Central District (Evaz County), Central District of Evaz County, Fars province, Fars province, Iran, serving as capital of both the county and the district. Al-Kandari
The Al Kandari is a family name in Kuwait. While not the same as more coherent clans or families in the region who come from a single main branch, they are made up of loosely connected families. Each Kandari family may have different grandfathers, but all have to come to Kuwait at similar times. The family took the name after some of the first members who came to Kuwait who were working as "kanadra" or water carriers in Kuwait. Therefore, the Al Kandari are simply a sizable Kuwaiti family with various sub-families, not all related to each other. Shia Islam In Kuwait
Shia Islam constitutes a significant minority in Kuwait. In 2001, the US Department of State reported that there were 300,000 Shia Kuwaiti citizens and 820,000 Kuwaiti citizens in total thus Shias formed 36.5% of the Kuwaiti citizen population. In 2002, the US Department of State reported that Shia Kuwaitis formed 30-40% of Kuwait's citizen population, noting there were 525,000 Sunni citizens and 855,000 Kuwaiti citizens in total (61% Sunnis, 39% Shias). Javad Owji
Javad Owji (; born 24 July 1966) is an Iranian oil engineer and politician who served as the Minister of Petroleum of Iran from 2021 to 2024. Early life and education Owji was born in Shiraz in 1966.
