Charles Gavin
Charles de Souza Gavin (born 9 July 1960) is a Brazilian drummer and music producer, perhaps best known for his 25-year tenure with rock band Titãs. Before Titãs, he had brief stints at Ira! and RPM. Early life and first works At age 8, his friends invited him to participate on 7 September ( Brazil's Independence Day) festival. The problem was the absence of decent percussion instruments. So, the school decided to improvise these with kitchen utensils. But there was still an instrument remaining, which would be quite difficult for a not so skillful drummer to play. Gavin, who was already used to beat the table at school, was chosen for the job. The band, commanded by Gavin, won the originality prize. In 1975, at the year of 15, living in Jabaquara, Gavin joined ten neighbors, and during the weeks that preceded the Carnaval, they promoted noisy beats around the streets. However, his ears were focused on the discs of Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath and Emerson, Lake & Palmer. On ... History Early years Ultraje a Rigor began its performances as a cover band - mostly playing songs of The Beatles, punk rock and new wave songs. The final and official line-up of Roger, Leôspa, Sílvio and Edgard began doing shows at parties and small bars. In 1982, still without an official name, they decided on Ultraje a Rigor. The name referred to the band's irreverence toward the songs they covered, frequently satirizing or distorting them. So, the band's name is a pun with the words "traje a rigor" (a ceremonial suit) and "ultraje" (outrage). Soon, Silvio left the band and was replaced by Maurício. In April 1983, the new formation took part in the Theater Lira Paulistana's Boca no Trombone project, the band's first show fe ... Mod Revival
The mod revival is a subculture that started in the United Kingdom in the late 1970s and later spread to other countries (to a lesser degree). The Mod Revival started with disillusionment with the punk scene when commercialism set in. It was featured in an article in Sounds music paper in 1976 and had a big following in Reading/London during that time. It gained momentum as an underground movement which was highlighted on London Weekend Show 20 May 1979, prior to the impending release of the film ''Quadrophenia''. The late 1970s mod revival was led by the band The Jam, who adopted a stark mod look and mixed the energy of punk with the sound of early 1960s mod influenced bands. It was heavily influenced by the 1979 film '' Quadrophenia''. The mod revival was a conscious effort to hark back to the earlier generation in terms of style and presentation. In the early 1980s in the UK, a mod revival scene influenced by the original mod subculture of the 1960s developed. 1970s The la ...
