Iowa High School
Iowa High School is a junior and senior high school (grades 6–12) in Iowa, Louisiana. It is a part of Calcasieu Parish Public Schools. History One of the earliest schools in the Iowa area was located on the LeBleu family farm near the Chloe community in the mid-1880s, around the time Seaman A. Knapp, president of the Iowa State College of Agriculture, was working to demonstrate the suitability of the region for rice production. The modern Iowa High School was founded in 1919, and the first modern, brick school building in Iowa was constructed in 1920. To accomplish this, the Calcasieu Parish School Board in December 1919 sold $15,000 in bonds to The Hanchett Bond Company of Chicago. Iowa () is a town in Calcasieu Parish, Louisiana, Calcasieu Parish, Louisiana, United States. The population was 3,436 in 2020. Marshall Thundering Herd Football
The Marshall Thundering Herd football team is an intercollegiate varsity sports program of Marshall University. The team represents the university as a member of the Sun Belt Conference East Division of the National Collegiate Athletic Association, playing at the NCAA Division I Football Bowl Subdivision level. Marshall plays at Joan C. Edwards Stadium, which seats 38,227 and is expandable to 55,000. At the end of the 2024 football season, Marshall had a 192–45 record at Joan C. Edwards Stadium for a winning percentage of .810. The stadium opened in 1991 as Marshall University Stadium with a crowd of 33,116 for a 24–23 win over New Hampshire. Andre' Sam (born February 9, 1999) is an American professional football safety for the Philadelphia Eagles of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football for the McNeese Cowboys, Marshall Thundering Herd and LSU Tigers. Early life Sam was born on February 9, 1999, and grew up in Iowa, Louisiana. He has a speech disorder that causes him to stutter. He was raised by his mother after his father and grandfather died when he was age six. Growing up, he trained in football with his older brother, Aaron, who went on to play college football for the McNeese Cowboys. Brian Johnson (born March 5, 1980, in Iowa, Louisiana) is an American long jumper. Johnson is a 2003 NCAA indoor champion, a 2006 U.S. outdoor long jump champion, and a two-time U.S. indoor champion (2005 and 2006). He posted a personal best of 8.33 metres by placing second in the men's long jump at an international meet in Fort-de-France, Martinique. Johnson also won a silver medal for his category at the 2007 IAAF World Athletics Final in Stuttgart, Germany, with a best jump of 8.16 metres. Johnson earned a spot on the U.S. team for the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, by placing second at the U.S. Olympic Trials in Eugene, Oregon, with a best jump of 8.30 metres (27–2.75 ft).
