Ion (DC Comics)
Ion is a fictional character, a DC Comics superhero. Created by writer Judd Winick and artist Dale Eaglesham for ''Green Lantern (comic book), Green Lantern'' (vol. 3) #142, Ion was devised as the new superhero identity for ''Green Lantern'' protagonist Kyle Rayner. It was later revealed to be able to form Mutualism (biology), mutualism with a host, bestowing its power to a host willingly. This followed a similar retcon as Parallax (character), Parallax, originally the new supervillain alias of Hal Jordan, which was revealed to be a parasitic embodiment of fear in the 2004–2005 miniseries ''Green Lantern: Rebirth''. Doug Mahnke
Douglas Mahnke () is an American comic book artist, known for his work and penciller, penciling books including ''The Mask (comics), The Mask'', ''JLA (comic book), JLA'', ''Batman (comic book), Batman'', ''Final Crisis'', and ''Green Lantern (comic book), Green Lantern''. Career Mahnke's first prominent work was for ''The Mask (comics), The Mask'', and he has since worked for DC Comics on ''Justice League, JLA'', ''Batman (comic book), Batman'' with writer Judd Winick, and ''Frankenstein (DC Comics), Seven Soldiers: Frankenstein'' with Grant Morrison. Harold "Hal" Jordan, one of the characters known as Green Lantern, is a superhero appearing in American comic books published by DC Comics. The character was created in 1959 by writer John Broome (writer), John Broome and artist Gil Kane, and first appeared in ''Showcase (comics), Showcase'' #22 (October 1959). Hal Jordan is a reinvention of the previous Green Lantern, who appeared in 1940s comic books as the character Alan Scott. Hal Jordan is a former fighter pilot who works for Ferris Aircraft as a test pilot, a member and occasionally leader of an intergalactic police force called the Green Lantern Corps, as well as a founding member of the Justice League, DC's flagship superhero team, alongside well-known heroes such as Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman.
