Ioana Maria Petrescu (born July 1, 1980) is a Romanian economist who served as the country's Finance Minister. She is a public policy scholar at Harvard Kennedy School and runs a Romanian NGO "Pur și Simplu Verde" that supports local governments in their efforts to transition to a greener economy. Biography The daughter of two engineers, she was brought up by her grandparents in Cornu until she went to school in Bucharest. After graduating from the Mihai Viteazul high school, she received a B.A. in economics and mathematics from Wellesley College, and later a Ph.D. in economics from Harvard University. Ioana Ciolacu Miron (; born November 21, 1982) is a Romanian fashion designer. She received a Designer for Tomorrow Award from Stella McCartney, and has founded her own sustainable fashion Ioana Ciolacu label. Early life Ciolacu was born in Iași, Romania. Ciolacu is an only child. Her father is an architect. As a young girl, Ciolacu spent her summers in Focșani and in the Romanian countryside. Ioana Tinculeasa Rudăreasa was a Wallachian Romani woman who fought for the abolition of Slavery in Romania from 1843 to 1856. Born into slavery, Rudăreasa spent over a decade fighting for liberation from slavery through the Wallachian court. Her case illustrates the resistance of the Romanian boyars in preventing abolition and how Roma in the Romanian territories used all legal means available to obtain their freedom. Early years Rudăreasa was born in the principality of Wallachia as a Boyash Romani slave of the Wallachian state. During her time as a slave, she was forcefully married to Nicolae Cincea, a Romani slave of the Brăiloiu boyar family. Ioana Pârvulescu (born 1960) is a Romanian writer. She was born in Brașov and studied at the University of Bucharest. She graduated in 1983, and went on to complete a PhD in literature in 1999. She teaches modern literature at the same university. She has worked at the literary journal ''România literară'', and has translated the works of Maurice Nadeau, Angelus Silesius and Rainer Maria Rilke. She is a member of the Romanian Writers' Union. In 2013, Pârvulescu won the EU Prize for Literature for her book ''Viața începe vineri'' (''Life Begins on Friday'').
