Inverurie Academy is a comprehensive secondary school in Inverurie, Aberdeenshire. The school is one of the 17 secondary schools run by Aberdeenshire Council. Inverurie Academy is located on Jackson Street, Inverurie. As of 2023, the academy ranked 177th out of 347 with 35% of students securing 5 or more highers. Inverurie Academy has several feeder schools including Strathburn Primary, Chapel of Garioch Primary, Uryside Primary, Port Elphinstone Primary, Oyne Primary, Kellands Primary, Hatton of Fintray Primary, and Keithhall Primary. Inverurie
Inverurie (Scottish Gaelic: ''Inbhir Uraidh'' or ''Inbhir Uaraidh'', 'mouth of the River Ury') is a town in Aberdeenshire, Scotland at the confluence of the rivers Ury and River Don, Aberdeenshire, Don, about north-west of Aberdeen. Geography Inverurie is in the strath of the River Don, Aberdeenshire, River Don at the centre of Aberdeenshire and is known locally as the Heart of the Garioch. It sits between the River Don, Aberdeenshire, River Don and the River Ury and is from the imposing hill of Bennachie. The town centre is triangular and is dominated by Inverurie Town Hall built in 1863. Callum Smith (skier)
Callum Smith (born 12 October 1992) is a British cross-country skiing (sport), cross-country skier. He took up skiing at the age of eight and made his debut competing for Great Britain in 2008 in a International Ski Federation, FIS race in Tornio, Finland. He made his debut at the Winter Olympics in 2014 Winter Olympics, 2014, finishing 62nd in the Cross-country skiing at the 2014 Winter Olympics – Men's 30 kilometre skiathlon, 30km skiathlon and 67th in the Cross-country skiing at the 2014 Winter Olympics – Men's 15 kilometre classical, 15km classical. He was educated at Inverurie Academy, before studying chemical engineering at the University of Edinburgh. Ethel Simpson
Ethel Simpson (2 September 1926 – 12 December 2017) was a pioneering Scottish people, Scottish journalist. She worked to break down gendered barriers within journalism and was one of the first female chief reporters at the The Press and Journal (Scotland), Aberdeen Press and Journal. Early life Ethel was born in Banff, Aberdeenshire, Banff on 2 September 1926 to a farming family. She attended Keithhall Primary School and then Inverurie Academy. After completing a shorthand typing course at Webster's College, she joined the Aberdeen Press and Journal in 1944 at age seventeen. Helen Mary Boswell Rushall ( ''née'' Helen Mary Cruickshank, 22 April 1914 – 15 October 1984) was a British schoolteacher who helped to form the National Council of Women in Burma, an affiliate of the International Council of Women. Roderick Lewis Macdonald (born 1 January 1957) is a Scottish politician who was a Member of the Scottish Parliament (MSP) for the North East Scotland region between 2011 and 2021.
