Grand Mixer DXT
Derek Showard, better known by the stage name GrandMixer DXT, is an American musician, and the first DJ to use the turntable as a musical instrument. Early in his career, he was known as Grand Mixer D.ST, a reference to Delancey Street on the Lower East Side of Manhattan, New York City. He was featured in the influential hip hop film '' Wild Style''. Widely recognized as a pioneer, Grand Mixer DXT is credited as being the first turntablist. He was the first person to establish the turntable as a fully performable and improvisational musical instrument (Alberts 2002). Especially important is his technique of altering the pitch of the note or sound on the record. He is also credited with helping to popularize DJing through his scratching on Herbie Hancock's single " Rockit", from the Bill Laswell and Material produced album '' Future Shock''. Scott Harding, sometimes credited as Scotty Hard, is a Canadian producer and musician who is based in New York City and who has worked in underground hip-hop and jazz. He came to prominence as a producer for the WordSound label, which released his debut album ''Return of Kill Dog E'' in 1999. In addition to working in hip-hop, he has worked with funk-oriented jazz performers like Sex Mob, DJ Logic and Medeski, Martin and Wood. Jerome "Bigfoot" Brailey
Jerome Eugene "Bigfoot" Brailey (born August 20, 1950) is an American drummer, best known for his work with P-Funk, which included the bands Parliament, Funkadelic, and numerous related projects. Brailey is a member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, inducted in 1997 with fifteen other members of Parliament-Funkadelic. Career Jerome Brailey started performing around 1968 with the R&B group The Unifics, The Five Stairsteps, then The Chambers Brothers. George Clinton saw Jerome performing with The Chambers Brothers and invited him to join the Funk Mob after witnessing his style and finesse on drums. Bernie Worrell
George Bernard Worrell, Jr. (April 19, 1944 – June 24, 2016) was an American Keyboard instrument, keyboardist and record producer best known as a founding member of the Parliament-Funkadelic collective. In later years, he also worked with acts such as Talking Heads, Bill Laswell, and Jack Bruce. He is a member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, inducted in 1997 with fifteen other members of Parliament-Funkadelic. Juggaknots is an American hip hop group from New York City. It consists of siblings Breeze Brewin (Paul Smith), Queen Herawin (Peridot Smith), and Buddy Slim (Kevin Smith). The group has collaborated with Mr. Len, Sadat X, and Prince Paul. History Juggaknot's debut studio album, ''Clear Blue Skies'', was released on the vinyl-only New York independent Fondle 'Em Records in 1996.
