Christophe (singer)
Daniel Bevilacqua (, ; 13 October 1945 – 16 April 2020), better known by the stage name Christophe (), was a French singer and songwriter. He was born in the Paris suburb of Juvisy-sur-Orge, to an Italian father. Career Born in a suburb of Paris, Bevilacqua was rebellious at school and started leading a pop group when in his mid-teens. His first single, "Reviens Sophie" in 1963, was unsuccessful, but after changing his name to Christophe, his second single, " Aline", in 1965, rose to the top of the French pop music charts. He continued to have success in France through the 1960s and early 1970s. His hits include the songs "Marionettes", "J'ai entendu la mer", "Excusez-moi Monsieur le Professeur", and "Oh!... Mon Amour" which he sang in French and Italian. After a small break, he returned in 1971, with Francis Dreyfus launching the Motors record label (Disques Motors) and becoming the producer of Christophe records. Aline (song)
"Aline" is a single by French singer Christophe. The song became one of the two big hits in France during the summer of 1965 along with " Capri c'est fini" of Hervé Vilard. It sold one million records. The song was produced by the Disc'AZ label. The song is about a man begging his woman to come back and has been described as a "slow, romantic ballad". On 25 September 1965 it reached number one in Belgium top 10, surpassing "Capri c'est fini" which came in second place, becoming a "substantial hit" in that country according to ''Billboard magazine''. In October 1966 it became the number one hit in Israel. The song was composed by Christophe and arranged by Jacques Dejean. "Aline" was Christophe's favourite song. Background Christophe composed the song while visiting his grandmother for lunch. He did not immediately have a name for the song. Alain Bashung (, born Alain Claude Baschung; 1 December 1947 – 14 March 2009) was a French singer, songwriter and actor. Credited with reviving the French chanson in "a time of French musical turmoil", he is often regarded in his home country as the most important French rock musician after Serge Gainsbourg. He rose to prominence in the early 1980s with hit songs such as " Gaby oh Gaby" and "Vertige de l'amour", and later had a string of hit records from the 1990s onward, such as "Osez Joséphine", "Ma petite entreprise" and "La nuit je mens". He has had an influence on many later French artists, and is the most awarded artist in the Victoires de la Musique history with 12 victories obtained throughout his career.
