Interstate Highways In Wyoming
The Interstate Highways in Wyoming are the segments of the Dwight D. Eisenhower National System of Interstate and Defense Highways owed and maintained by the Wyoming Department of Transportation. It comprises on four routes as well as Business Interstate Highways. Construction began in September 1956 on Interstate 25 in Wyoming, Interstate 25 (I-25) and the network was completed in October 1985. Interstate 180 (Wyoming)
Interstate 180 (I-180) is a expressway in the US state of Wyoming between I-80 and downtown Cheyenne. It is unusual for being one of the few Interstate Highways that does not conform to Interstate Highway standards. There is also no control of access anywhere along its route. Other routes in Alaska and Puerto Rico are similar in nature, as they are funded by Interstate dollars but do not conform to Interstate Highway standards. The only grade separations are a diamond interchange at its southern end (at a junction with I-80) and a pair of bridges that run over 1st Street and the Union Pacific Railroad tracks. Standards for Interstate Highways in the United States are defined by the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO) in the publication ''A Policy on Design Standards: Interstate System''. For a certain highway to be considered an Interstate Highway, it must meet these construction requirements or obtain a waiver from the Federal Highway Administration. Standards Standardization helps keep road design consistent, such that drivers can learn the consistent features and drive accordingly. Interstate 80 (I-80) is a part of the Interstate Highway System that runs from San Francisco, California, to Teaneck, New Jersey. In Wyoming, the Interstate Highway runs from the Utah state line near Evanston east to the Nebraska state line in Pine Bluffs. I-80 connects Cheyenne, Wyoming's capital and largest city, with several smaller cities along the southern tier of Wyoming, including Evanston, Green River, Rock Springs, Rawlins, and Laramie.
