Interstate Highways In Louisiana
The Interstate Highway System in Louisiana consists of of freeways constructed and maintained by the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (La DOTD). The system was authorized on June 29, 1956 when President Dwight D. Eisenhower signed into law the Federal Aid Highway Act of 1956. The Louisiana Department of Highways, predecessor of the DOTD, began construction shortly afterward on its portion of the system, to which approximately was initially allotted. The first road segment in the new system was officially opened and dedicated on February 24, 1960 and consisted of a portion of the Pontchartrain Expressway (I-10) in New Orleans. A highway shield or route marker is a Signage, sign denoting the route number of a highway, usually in the form of a symbolic shape with the route number enclosed. Ida, Louisiana
Ida is a village in Caddo Parish, Louisiana, United States. The population was 221 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Shreveport–Bossier City metropolitan area. Ida and nearby Rodessa are the most northwesterly communities in Louisiana. It is nearby I-49. History Settlement of the area likely began after the end of the American Civil War, with the construction of the Munnerlyn Chapel in 1877 and the first school house in 1883. Vicksburg, Mississippi
Vicksburg is a historic city in Warren County, Mississippi, United States. It is the county seat. The population was 21,573 at the 2020 census. Located on a high bluff on the east bank of the Mississippi River across from Louisiana, Vicksburg was built by French colonists in 1719. The outpost withstood an attack from the native Natchez people. It was incorporated as Vicksburg in 1825 after Methodist missionary Newitt Vick. Greenwood is a suburban town in southern Caddo Parish, which is located in the northwest corner of the U.S. state of Louisiana. Louisiana Highway 28 (LA 28) is a state highway located in central Louisiana. It runs in an east–west direction from the junction of U.S. Highway 171 (US 171) and LA 8 in Leesville to US 84 west of Jonesville. Route description From the west, LA 28 begins at a roundabout intersection with US 171, at the north city limits of Leesville in Vernon Parish, running concurrent with LA 8. LA 8 turns northeast about east of Leesville and is called the Slagle Road.
