The International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) is the Sport governing body, governing body for all national table tennis associations that use ITTF-approved sponge table tennis rackets. The role of the ITTF includes overseeing rules and regulations and seeking technological improvement for the sport of table tennis. The ITTF is responsible for the organization of numerous international competitions, including the World Table Tennis Championships. Para Table Tennis
Para table tennis is a parasports which follows the rules set by the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF). The usual table tennis rules are in effect with slight modifications for wheelchair athletes. Athletes from disability groups can take part. Athletes receive classifications between 1 and 11. Classes 1–5 are for those in wheelchairs and classes 6–10 for those who have disabilities that allow them to play standing. Within those groups, the higher classification means the more function the athlete has. Class 11 is defined for players with an intellectual disability. Classification The roles of classification are to determine eligibility to compete for athletes with disability and to group athletes equitably for competition purposes. Asian Table Tennis Union
The Asian Table Tennis Union (ATTU) is an Asian table tennis governing body formed on May 7, 1972, and recognized by International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) in 1975. ATTU was founded by 16 member associations, currently, 44 member associations are affiliated to ATTU. Founding history After Chinese Civil War, fighting between China and Taiwan spread into diplomatic fields, including sports organizations. During the 1960s, Taiwan was not a member of International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF), but was affiliated to Table Tennis Federation of Asia (TTFA). China was totally opposite. In 1968, ITTF had decided that only those countries affiliated to ITTF be allowed to gain membership in its continental affiliates. Xu Yinsheng
Xu Yinsheng (; born 12 May 1938 in Shanghai) is a male former table tennis player from China. Table tennis career From 1959 to 1965 he won seven medals in singles, doubles, and team events in the World Table Tennis Championships. His seven World Championship medals included four gold medals; three in the team event and one in the doubles with Zhuang Zedong at the 1965 World Table Tennis Championships. He was the coach of the national team in Nagoya 1971 World Championship. Ichiro Ogimura
was a Japanese table tennis player, coach, president of the ITTF and former World No. 1 who won 12 World Championship titles during his career. Ogimura was also a key figure in the Ping Pong Diplomacy events of the early 1970s, as well as being instrumental in Korea playing as a unified team at the 1991 World Table Tennis Championships. Early life Ogimura was born in Itō, Shizuoka, in 1932. His father died when Ogimura was two years old, and his mother often worked too late to take care of him. Ogimura began playing table tennis in April 1948 as a student at Metropolitan Tenth Junior High School, where he was a student. At the age of 16, Ogimura started practicing the sport at the Musashino table tennis hall, run by Hisae Uehara, in Kichijoji, Tokyo. Roy Evans (table Tennis)
Roy Evans (8 October 1909 – 18 May 1998) was a Welsh professional table tennis player from Cardiff. He served as the president of the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) from 1967 to 1987. During his tenure at the ITTF, he successfully campaigned for the addition of table tennis in the Olympic Games. In 1984, the Olympics added table tennis as an event, and the first competition was held during the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul. Juan Antonio Samaranch, the former IOC president, awarded him the Olympic Order for his role as an advocate for the sport. Evans was named the "Honorary Life President" of the organization in 1987 and was appointed OBE in the 1972 Queen's Birthday Honors list. Ivor Goldsmid Samuel Montagu (23 April 1904, in Kensington, London – 5 November 1984, in Watford) was an English filmmaker, screenwriter, producer, film critic, writer, table tennis player, and Communist activist and spy in the 1930s. World Table Tennis (ITTF)
World Table Tennis, stylized as WTT, is an organization created by the International Table Tennis Federation, ITTF in 2019 that runs commercialized table tennis tournaments.
