International Saxophone Committee
The World Saxophone Congress is a festival gathering approximately 1000 saxophonists and other musicians from all over the world. It is held every three years at a different congress centre in a different country and focuses primarily (although not exclusively) on the performance of classical saxophone music. The Congress presents an opportunity to meet saxophonists from many countries and to listen to various concerts and performances of saxophone soloists, chamber ensembles, big bands and symphony orchestras that run simultaneously throughout the day in different halls of the congress centre. Each of the five days is concluded by an evening concert of the orchestra and outstanding international soloists. It is also convened with the purpose of presenting the advancements of music production and distribution as well as innovations in instrument-making and equipment. The world is the totality of entities, the whole of reality, or everything that exists. The nature of the world has been conceptualized differently in different fields. Some conceptions see the world as unique, while others talk of a "plurality of worlds". Some treat the world as one simple object, while others analyze the world as a complex made up of parts. Ronald Caravan
Ronald Caravan (born November 20, 1946) is an American classical musician. He is a clarinetist, saxophonist, teacher, composer, and arranger. Early life and education Caravan was born in Pottsville, Pennsylvania. He earned a Master of Arts in music theory in 1973 and the Doctor of Musical Arts (DMA) in music education in 1974 from the Eastman School of Music. He also earned the performer's certificate on clarinet from the Eastman School (1974). Career Most of Caravan's teaching career has been with the faculty of the Setnor School of Music at Syracuse University from 1980 to 2015, where he taught clarinet and saxophone and conducted the Syracuse University Saxophone Ensemble. Brian Brown (musician)
Brian Ernest Austin Brown OAM (29 December 193328 January 2013) was an Australian jazz musician and educator. He played the soprano and tenor saxophones, flutes, synthesisers (including the WX5 wind synthesiser), panpipes and a leather bowhorn (designed by Garry Greenwood). In 1993 Brown was awarded the Order of Australia for service to the performing arts as a jazz performer, educator and composer. Biography Brian Brown was born in Melbourne. He performed as a soloist and led his own ensembles since the mid-1950s throughout Australia and in Scandinavia, United States, Japan, United Kingdom, Italy, Spain, the Netherlands, Brunei and Germany. Kyle Horch
Kyle Horch (born 1964) is a classical saxophonist. Biography Horch studied at Northwestern University in Chicago, U.S. with Frederick Hemke. He then won a BP North America Scholarship to pursue post-graduate study at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama with Stephen Trier. As a young musician he was a prizewinner at many solo and chamber music competitions in Britain, Europe, and the USA. He has performed as a recitalist at the Purcell Room, Queen Elizabeth Hall, Blackheath Recital Hall, British and World Saxophone Congress, and many other venues in Britain and abroad. He has released two recordings on the Clarinet Classics label: ChamberSax, which explores chamber repertoire for saxophone and other instruments, and AngloSax, a recital with piano of British and American works.
