Hongkou District
, formerly spelled Hongkew, is a district of Shanghai, forming part of the northern urban core. It has a land area of and a population of 852,476 as of 2010. It is the location of the Astor House Hotel, Broadway Mansions, Lu Xun Park, and Hongkou Football Stadium. The White Magnolia Plaza, also known as Sinar Mas Center, is a skyscraper whose construction was earlier suspended, but resumed construction in 2013, and was completed on January 4, 2017. It is located north of the Bund, the historic river-front district of Shanghai, adjacent to the international cruise terminal. The original proposal called for a tower, but it was later scaled down to , and then the third and final design was changed to .
