International Communication Association
The International Communication Association (ICA) is an academic association for scholars interested in the study, teaching and application of all aspects of human and mediated communication. ICA communicates within the association and with others interested in the field through various channels. The association publishes six major, peer-reviewed journals: Journal of Communication; Communication Theory; Human Communication Research; the Journal of Computer-Mediated Communication; Communication, Culture, and Critique; thAnnals of the International Communication Association Members receive a monthly electronic newsletter. Nicole Ellison
Nicole Ellison is the Karl E Weick Collegiate professor in the School of Information at the University of Michigan. She is best known for her research in the fields of computer-mediated communication, social media, and social networking sites. Her research has been cited over 63,000 times according to Google Scholar. Education Nicole Ellison was born in Los Angeles and received her B.A. cum laude in English at Barnard College at Columbia University in 1990. Center For Intercultural Dialogue
The Center for Intercultural Dialogue (CID) was established by the Council of Communication Associations (CCA) in March 2010. Intercultural dialogue occurs when members of different cultural groups, who hold conflicting opinions and assumptions, speak to one another in acknowledgment of those differences. As such, it forms "the heart of what we study when we study intercultural communication." The goal of CID is double: to encourage research on intercultural dialogue, but to do so through bringing international scholars interested in the subject together in shared intercultural dialogues about their work. The Central States Communication Association (CSCA) is a professional, academic organization of university professors, communication professionals, and primary and secondary school teachers. CSCA was founded in 1931 to promote the communications discipline in educational, scholarly, and professional endeavors. Patricia Maria (Patti) Valkenburg (born 19 August 1958, Delft) is a Distinguished Professor of Communication at the University of Amsterdam. She is the founder and director of Center for research on Children, Adolescents, and the Media (CCAM). She is a fellow of the International Communication Association. Walther (born 1958) is the Mark and Susan Bertelsen Presidential Chair in Technology and Society and the Director of the Center for Information Technology & Society at the University of California, Santa Barbara.
