Interlachen is an Unincorporated area, unincorporated community in Multnomah County, Oregon, Multnomah County, Oregon, United States. It is situated between Blue Lake and Fairview Lake, just south of Blue Lake Regional Park and north of Fairview, Oregon, Fairview. The community has approximately 140 property owners, and the homeowners' association was established in 1930. The community's Homeowner association, homeowners' association (HOA) believes that Interlachen has the oldest continuously operating HOA in Oregon. History Circa 1830, the Interlachen ridge area was the main burial ground of the Nichaqwli people, who were a Chinookan peoples, Chinookan band of Native Americans. Fairview, Oregon
Fairview is a city in Multnomah County, Oregon, United States. The population was 10,424 at the 2020 census. History Members of the Multnomah tribe of Chinookan Indians lived in a village on Sauvie Island by the Columbia River (the future site of Fairview) when the Lewis and Clark Expedition visited the area in 1806. By the 1840s and 1850s, white settlers began hay, grain, and livestock operations in what would become eastern Multnomah County. Railroad tracks extended to the area by the 1890s. As the population grew, it may be assumed that residents began referring to the locale as Fairview because of the pleasing views of the nearby Columbia, the Columbia River Gorge, and Mount Hood, though an alternative testimony explains this name originated from the area's ideal lookout spot for approaching hostile natives. Chinookan Peoples
Chinookan peoples include several groups of Indigenous people of the Pacific Northwest in the United States who speak the Chinookan languages. Since at least 11,500 BCE, Chinookan peoples and their ancestors have resided along the upper and Middle Columbia River (Wimahl) ("Great River") from the river's gorge (near the present town of The Dalles, Oregon) downstream (west) to the river's mouth, and along adjacent portions of the coasts, from Tillamook Head of present-day Oregon in the south, north to Willapa Bay in southwest Washington. In 1805 the Lewis and Clark Expedition encountered the Chinook Tribe on the lower Columbia. Blue Lake Regional Park
Blue Lake Regional Park is a public park in Fairview, in the U.S. state of Oregon. The park, near the south shore of the Columbia River in Multnomah County, includes many covered and uncovered picnic areas, playing fields for sports such as softball, a cross country course (home course for Portland State Vikings cross country) and infrastructure related to lake recreation including swimming, boating, and fishing. Encompassing wooded areas, three ponds, and a wetland in addition to the lake, the park is frequented by migrating birds and other wildlife. Paved paths run through the park, which is near the 40-Mile Loop hiking and biking trail.
