Intercontinental Tag Team Champions
The Intercontinental Tag Team Championship, also known as the NWA Intercontinental Tag Team Championship, is a professional wrestling tag team championship in Japanese promotion Pro Wrestling Zero1, typically reserved for (but not exclusive to) heavyweight (>) wrestlers. It was created on June 14, 2001, three months after then Pro Wrestling Zero-One's creation, when Samoa Joe and Keiji Sakoda (though Zero1 has since ceased to recognize both their reign as well as the following reign by Steve Corino and Mike Rapada) defeated Yuki Ishikawa and Katsumi Usuda. The championship was created when Zero-One was a member of the National Wrestling Alliance (NWA); since Zero-One departed from the NWA in late 2004, the NWA does not recognize or sanction it, though it retains the NWA initials. Yuki Ishikawa (wrestler)
is a Japanese professional wrestler, former mixed martial artist and promoter. Beginning his career with shoot style promotion Pro Wrestling Fujiwara Gumi (PWFG), Ishikawa is known for his violent shoot style matches, that often include him and his opponents legitimately hitting each other and ending the match with numerous injuries and/or blood on their faces. Hirotaka Yokoi
(born June 8, 1978) is a Japanese former mixed martial artist and professional wrestler. A professional MMA competitor from 2000 until 2007, Yokoi fought for PRIDE, Shooto, RINGS, and DEEP, while in professional wrestling he wrestled mainly for Pro Wrestling Zero1. Mixed martial arts career Yokoi originally started training in Judo in high school, but he was more interested in Universal Wrestling Federation and its offshoots. Kohei Sato
is a Japanese professional wrestler contracted with Pro Wrestling Zero1. Sato is also a former mixed martial artist. Career A former judoka and amateur wrestler, Sato made his transition to mixed martial arts after meeting Kazunari Murakami and Sanshu Tsubakichi. He joined the Shooto promotion, winning the 1998 All Japan Amateur Shooto Championships over Takashi Okada in the heavyweight class, and later turning professional and gaining two wins over Anthony Netzler and Katsuhisa Fujii.
