Interbau 57
Interbau was a housing development, constructed as part of the 1957 International Building Exhibition in the Hansaviertel area of West Berlin. The overall plan was managed by Otto Bartning, and the urban design competition was won by Gerhard Jobst and Willy Kreuer, whose plans were later executed in a modified form. Working within constraints of size, layout and cost, forty-eight architects designed a huge range of accommodation, both low- and high-rise, with many permutations in plan. The Haus der Kulturen der Welt (HKW), in English House of the World's Cultures, in Berlin is Germany's national center for the presentation and discussion of international contemporary arts, with a special focus on non-European cultures and societies. It presents art exhibitions, theater and dance performances, concerts, author readings, films and academic conferences on Visual Art and culture. It is one of the institutions which, due to their national and international standing and the quality of their work, receive funding from the federal government as so-called "lighthouses of culture", from the Federal Minister of State for Culture and the Media as well as from the Federal Foreign Office. Arne Emil Jacobsen, Hon. FAIA () 11 February 1902 – 24 March 1971) was a Danish architect and furniture designer. He is remembered for his contribution to architectural functionalism and for the worldwide success he enjoyed with simple well-designed chairs. His mother Pouline was a bank teller whose hobby was floral motifs. Egon Eiermann
Egon Eiermann (29 September 1904 – 20 July 1970) was one of Germany's most prominent architects in the second half of the 20th century. He was also a furniture designer. From 1947, he was Professor for architecture at the Technical University of Karlsruhe. Biography Eiermann was born in (now part of Babelsberg, Potsdam), the son of Wilhelm Eiermann (1874–1948), a locomotive engineer and his wife Emma Gellhorn (1875–1959). Luciano Baldessari
Luciano Baldessari (1896–1982) was an Italian artist, architect and designer. Baldessari was born on 10 December 1896 in Rovereto, Italy. In 1913, Baldessari began his career as a visual artist after studying in the Scuola Reale Elisabettiana. He participated in the Futurism, Futurist movement among contemporaries including Fortunato Depero. In 1919, Baldessari moved to Milan where he studied architecture at Polytechnic University of Milan, Milan Polytechnic; he completed his degree in 1922. In 1923 Baldessari moved to Berlin where he worked as a Scenic design, set designer. In 1926, he returned to Milan and began his career in Rationalism (architecture), rationalist architecture.
