InterFoto
InterFoto was the largest festival of professional photography in Russia, the Baltic States and Commonwealth of Independent States, CIS countries from 1994 to 2004. It was founded by two American photojournalists, Washington Post photographer and Pulitzer Prize winner Lucian Perkins and freelancer Bill Swersey, bringing together local, regional and international communities of photographers, photo editors, curators, and industry leaders to exchange ideas, inspire, educate, and provide career opportunities. InterFoto, a Russian-American non-profit organization, was designed to foster the development and international exposure of Russian photography through the production of an annual InterFoto International festival for professional photographers in Moscow and the annual all-Russian contest Press Photo Russia. Lucian Perkins
Lucian Perkins is an American photojournalist, who is best known for covering a number of conflicts with profound compassion for his photograph's subjects, including the war in Afghanistan, Kosovo and the 1991 Persian Gulf War. It has been said that Perkins has a developed style that not only portrays the hopes and weaknesses of the people in his photographs but in an unconventional manner. Perkins currently works at'' The Washington Post'', where he has worked for the past 30 years and resides in Washington, D.C. Student life Lucian Perkins first began experimenting with photojournalism during his time at the University of Texas. Igor Mukhin
Igor Vladimirovich Mukhin (russian: link=no, И́горь Влади́мирович Му́хин; born 19 November 1961), also known as Igor Vladimirovich Moukhin, is a Russian photographer. He was a member of the In-Public street photography collective. Biography After graduating from college, Mukhin worked in a project institute. From 1985 to 1986 he attended classes at the studio of prominent Moscow photographer, Alexander Lapin. He later spent several years working with samizdat rock musicians. In 1987, Mukhin had his first personal exhibition at the Moscow State University. Since 1989 he has been working as an independent photographer. Mukhin is known for his photographs of Soviet rock musicians of the perestroika period, including Viktor Tsoi, Boris Grebenshchikov, and Petr Mamonov. Steve McCurry
Steve McCurry (born April 23, 1950) is an American photographer, freelancer, and photojournalist. His photo '' Afghan Girl'', of a girl with piercing green eyes, has appeared on the cover of '' National Geographic'' several times. McCurry has photographed many assignments for '' National Geographic'' and has been a member of Magnum Photos since 1986. McCurry is the recipient of numerous awards, including Magazine Photographer of the Year, awarded by the National Press Photographers Association; the Royal Photographic Society's Centenary Medal; and two first-place prizes in the World Press Photo contest (1985 and 1992). Burt Glinn
Burton Samuel Glinn (July 23, 1925 – April 9, 2008) was an American professional photographer who worked with Magnum Photos. He covered revolutionary leader Fidel Castro's entrance into Havana, Cuba, and photographed people such as Andy Warhol and Helen Frankenthaler. Glinn's photos show such things as the social scene of the rich, the dirtiness of politics, and the humorous flotilla that called itself the Seattle Tubing Society. Micha Bar-Am (Hebrew: מיכה בר-עם; born 1930) is a German-born Israeli photographer. Biography Micha Bar-Am is one of Israel's most senior photographers. For more than sixty years his photographs have played a central role in the construction of Israel's cultural memory, and have presented the country's image to the entire world. Born in Berlin 1930, Micha Bar-Am arrived with his family in Israel (then Palestine) in 1936, and grew up in Haifa. Gueorgui Pinkhassov
Gueorgui Pinkhassov is a photographer, born in Moscow in 1953. He is a member of Magnum Photos. Life and work Pinkhassov began his interest in photography in his teens, and enrolled at the Moscow Institute of Cinematography ( VGIK) in 1969. Following college and two years in the army, he joined the film crew at Mosfilm. Continuing his interest in still photography he became a set photographer at the studio. His work was noticed by the film director Andrei Tarkovsky, who invited Pinkhassov to work on the set of his film '' Stalker.''
