Inter-Provincial Trophy
The Inter-Provincial Trophy is a Twenty20 cricket tournament between the four leading cricketing provinces of Ireland. The tournament was first held by three provinces in 2013, across venues in both Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland. Northern Knights are the current reigning champions, while Leinster Lightning are the most successful team in the competition's history, winning seven titles. 2015 Inter-Provincial Trophy
The 2015 Inter-Provincial Trophy was the third edition of the Inter-Provincial Trophy, a 20 over cricket competition played in Ireland. It was held from 1 May to 25 June 2015. Leinster Lightning won the tournament on the last day. Despite losing to North West Warriors by 15 runs, Warriors failed to gain a bonus point and so Lightning were crowned champions for the second time. The 2011 ICC Cricket World Cup was the tenth Cricket World Cup. It was played in India, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh, while the latter hosted World Cup matches for the first time. 2014 Inter-Provincial Trophy
The 2014 Inter-Provincial Trophy is the second season of the Inter-Provincial Trophy, the domestic Twenty20 cricket competition of Ireland. The competition is played between Leinster Lightning, Northern Knights and North-West Warriors. The North-West Warriors won the 2014 competition, winning by three points from Leinster Lightning. The final days matches, scheduled for Pembroke CC in Dublin, were abandoned due to bad weather, meaning that the Warriors maintained their lead at the top of the table. The player of the tournament was David Rankin of the North-West Warriors. The Inter-Provincial Series has been funded at least partly by the ICC via their TAPP programme. The Munster Cricket Union is one of five provincial governing bodies for cricket in Ireland. Along with the Connacht, Northern, Leinster and North West unions, it makes up the Irish Cricket Union (now known as Cricket Ireland), the overall governing body of Irish cricket. North West Warriors is one of four provincial cricket teams in Ireland. Along with the Leinster Lightning, Northern Knights and Munster Reds, it makes up the Inter-Provincial Championship, Inter-Provincial Cup & Inter-Provincial Trophy. Munster Reds is an Irish inter-provincial cricket team based in Cork, in the province of Munster. History In April 2017, Cricket Ireland approved the participation of the team in the Interprovincial Twenty20 Cup, the highest level of T20 domestic cricket in Ireland. The 2017 Inter-Provincial Trophy was the fifth edition of the Inter-Provincial Trophy, a Twenty20 cricket competition played in Ireland. It was held from 26 May to 11 August 2017. William Boyd Rankin (born 5 July 1984) is a Northern Irish former cricketer who played international cricket for Ireland, and briefly also played for England. He is a right-arm medium-fast bowler. He is the brother of fellow cricketer David Rankin. Born in Derry, Rankin is a tall bowler who stands at 6 ft 8 inches and has a distinctive bouncing action in his bowling.
