Institute H21
Prezident 21 is an interactive website, created by the Czech mathematician and political activist Karel Janeček and his think tank, Institute H21, used to familiarise voters with a proposed system to select a presidential candidate for the 2018 Czech presidential election. Operation The software went live on 21 December 2016. Participants were allowed to nominate anyone except for the software creator, Janeček. Everyone who voted was allowed three positive votes and one negative vote. Outcome Over 3,000 people participated in the first few hours of the website's creation, after which Šimon Pánek was in first place. The incumbent president Miloš Zeman was last. Zeman's poor result was said to be most likely due to the fact that his supporters were less active on the Internet. Czech People
The Czechs (, ; singular Czech, masculine: ''Čech'' , singular feminine: ''Češka'' ), or the Czech people (), are a West Slavic ethnic group and a nation native to the Czech Republic in Central Europe, who share a common ancestry, culture, history, and the Czech language. Šimon Pánek
Šimon Pánek (born 27 December 1967) is the executive director of the Czech humanitarian organisation People in Need (Člověk v tísni), which he co-founded in 1992. He is also a former Czech student activist who was notable for his activities during the Czechoslovak Velvet Revolution in 1989. Under Pánek's leadership, People in Need (PIN) has become the biggest non-governmental organisation in Central and Eastern Europe and works worldwide to mitigate people's suffering in times of crisis. Michal Horáček (born 23 July 1952) is a Czech Republic, Czech entrepreneur, lyricist, poet, writer, journalist and music producer. Jiří Drahoš (born 20 February 1949; ) is a Czech physical chemist and politician who has been the Senator of Prague 4 since October 2018. Previously, Drahoš served as President of the Czech Academy of Sciences from 2009 to 2017, and was a candidate in the 2018 Czech presidential election. Born in Český Těšín and raised in nearby Jablunkov, Drahoš studied physical chemistry at the University of Chemistry and Technology in Prague, and joined the Institute of Chemical Process Fundamentals of the Czechoslovak Academy of Sciences in 1973, which he later led from 1995 to 2003.
