Texas are a Scottish Rock music, rock band from Glasgow, founded in 1986 by Johnny McElhone, Ally McErlaine, and Sharleen Spiteri. They made their performing debut in March 1988 at the University of Dundee, and released their debut album ''Southside (Texas album), Southside'' in 1989, along with their debut single "I Don't Want a Lover". John Francis McElhone (born 21 April 1963, Glasgow) is a Scottish guitarist and songwriter. He played with three bands who have enjoyed a top-20 presence on the UK Singles Chart; the new wave bands Altered Images and Hipsway, and the alternative/pop rock band Texas.
