Innherred
or is a traditional district in Trøndelag county in the central part of Norway. It consists of the areas around the inner part of the Trondheimsfjord in the central-east part of the county. The district includes the municipalities of Levanger, Frosta, Verdal, Inderøy, and Steinkjer. Historically, the municipalities of Snåsa and Namdalseid have sometimes also been included in the Innherred district. The area encompasses about and about 68,062 residents (2004). There are several larger towns/cities in Innherred including Steinkjer, Levanger, and Verdalsøra. The district is only a traditional geographical district, it has no administrative or governmental functions. Innherred is bordered by the district of Namdalen, to the east by Sweden, to the south by the district of Stjørdalen, and to the west by the district of Fosen. Nord-Trøndelag (; "North Trøndelag") was a counties of Norway, county constituting the northern part of the present-day Trøndelag county in Norway. It bordered the old Sør-Trøndelag ("South Trøndelag") county as well as the county of Nordland. To the west is the Norwegian Sea (Atlantic Ocean), and to the east is Jämtland in Sweden. The county was established in 1804 when the old Trondhjems amt was divided into two: Nordre Trondhjems amt and Sør-Trøndelag, Søndre Trondhjems amt. Levanger (town)
or is a town and the administrative center of Levanger Municipality in Trøndelag county, Norway. The university town is located along the eastern shore of the Trondheimsfjorden, at the mouth of the river Levangselva. The town is located about half-way between the towns of Steinkjer and Stjørdalshalsen. Verdalsøra or Verdal is a town in Verdal Municipality in Trøndelag county, Norway. The town is the administrative center of the municipality. It is located along the Trondheimsfjord at the mouth of the river Verdalselva. The village of Vinne lies to the southeast, Trones lies about to the north, the villages of Forbregd/ Lein lie about to the northeast (along the lake Leksdalsvatnet), and the village of Stiklestad lies about to the east. Steinkjer (town)
or is the administrative centre of Steinkjer Municipality and Trøndelag county in Norway. The List of towns and cities in Norway, town is located at the northeastern end of the inner-most part of the Trondheimsfjorden, at the mouth of the river Steinkjerelva. In the eastern part of the town, the river of Figgja also flows into the fjord. The town is split in two by the river Steinkjerelva, creating the two traditional neighborhoods of Nordsia and Sørsia.
