Inner Journeys
''Inner Journeys: Myth + Legends'' is an album by German cross-cultural new-age band Cusco, released in 2003. The album peaked at #6 on the Billboard Top New Age albums chart. With this album, the band simultaneously explores new territory by covering Greek Mythology with its musical concepts, and also revisits a more classic Cusco sound by reintroducing the flute sounds of the early years ( Water Stories) and the strings, guitars, and atmospheres of their mid-career commercial high points of Cusco 2000 and Apurimac II. Sonically, this album does continue to develop a very natural-sounding instrumentation that began to appear with Ancient Journeys, though it uses them to create a more mysterious vibe than that of the previous album. Also, Inner Journeys utilizes occasional backing vocals in a style previously unexplored by the band, giving this album a unique flavor among Cusco albums. Cusco (band)
Cusco was a German cross-cultural new-age music band named after the Peruvian city of Cusco, which was once the capital of the Inca Empire. The band's music contains influences from music around the world, with an emphasis on South American flute sounds and melodies. Cusco's melodic and energetic music is a fusion of modern and ethnic styles with influences from classical music and rock music sensibilities. Most of the ethnic instruments were keyboard-generated. The band was led by founders Michael Holm (Lothar Bernhard Walter; 1943–) and Kristian Schultze (1945–2011). Michael Holm, already a successful vocal artist, sought to make a musical tribute to ancient cultures. He and Kristian Schultze, formerly a member of the jazz band Passport, shared musical and historical interests. In 1979, they formed Cusco, and released their first album in 1980. Water Stories (Cusco Album)
''Water Stories'' is an album by German andean new age band Cusco. It was released in 1990 as their third album for the Higher Octave music label. The album peaked at #11 on the Billboard Top New Age albums chart in 1991. The album celebrates some of the world's major water bodies and surrounding areas. Although presented as a proper album, it contains tracks from throughout the early career of the band, and was designed as a sort of "best of" collection. Compared to ''Mystic Island'', this album's tracks mostly come from the albums ''Cusco II'', ''Virgin Islands'' and ''Ring der Delphine'', but has selected tracks from other albums as well, as well as the brand new track "Chorus", an alternate version of "Flying Condor" from the '' Apurimac'' album. Michael Holm
Michael Holm (born Lothar Walter; on 29 July 1943) is a German singer, musician, songwriter and record producer. He is primarily known as a singer of Schlager music. Although his first appearance in the hit parade was in 1962 ("Lauter Schöne Worte"), he had his first big hit in 1969. "Mendocino", the German adaptation of a song by the Sir Douglas Quintet, was the biggest selling single that year in (Germany). The record was released in September 1969, reached number three for five weeks, selling over a million copies. Ariola presented him with a gold record in October 1970. Further hits such as "Barfuß im Regen" (1970), "Tränen lügen nicht" (literally, "Tears Don't Lie", recorded in English as " When A Child Is Born") (1974) and " Musst Du jetzt gerade gehen, Lucille" (1977) followed. Musical Keyboard
A musical keyboard is the set of adjacent depressible levers or keys on a musical instrument. Keyboards typically contain keys for playing the twelve notes of the Western musical scale, with a combination of larger, longer keys and smaller, shorter keys that repeats at the interval of an octave. Kristian Schultze
Kristian Schultze (21 January 1945 – 22 November 2011) was one-half of the German new-age band Cusco. Schultze partnered with Michael Holm and the two produced numerous new-age albums. The two met in late 1970s, when they discovered that they shared a similar interest in pre-colonial America. Schultze also released a number of solo albums. Biography Kristian Schultze was the son of Norbert Schultze, the composer of " Lili Marleen", and Iwa Wanja, a Bulgarian actress and singer. He grew up in Hamburg, Rio de Janeiro and Berlin, and got his musical education at Konservatorium and Musikhochschule Berlin, Wiener Akademie and Jazzschool Graz. He moved to Munich in 1968 where he worked as composer, arranger, producer and musician for various artists, for movies, television and theater. Apurimac II
''Apurímac II: Return to Ancient America'' is an album by German andean new age band Cusco, released in 1994 on the Higher Octave music label. The album peaked at #8 on the Billboard Top New Age albums chart. It is second in the Apurímac series, and contains native Central American and South American sounds reincarnated with a very modern European musical touch, and has a much more lush, contemporary sound than the first '' Apurimac'' album, or other Cusco albums in general. Sounds of the ancient Mesoamerican civilizations Maya, Inca and Aztec are represented, and its orchestral touches remind of the then recent '' Cusco 2000'' and ''Cusco 2002'' albums, though on this album they are used more sparingly.
