Inner Harbour Ferry Terminal
The Inner Harbour Ferry Terminal (; pt, Terminal Marítimo de Passageiros do Porto Interior) is a passenger pier in São Lourenço, Macau, China. The ferry terminal is dedicated for ferries to the nearby Wanzai, Zhuhai. History The former Yutong pier was part of the Ponte 16 project. The no. 14 pier was demolished and the new terminal at no. 11A was built to replace it. In order to reduce high speed ferries' influence on the other harbour users, the Macau - Shekou and Macau - Jiangmen services were moved to Taipa Ferry Terminal from 24 September 2009 and 29 January 2010 respectively. Today the terminal only provide one cross-harbour service between Macau and Zhuhai. In 2016, the Wanzai Port closed in order to undergo a general upgrading of its facilities. On 30 December 2019, the local government announced that the Wanzai Port will officially reopen on 23 January 2020 with an hourly immigration capacity of 3,840 crossings. São Lourenço, Macau
São Lourenço is a civil parish ( pt, freguesia) of Macau. It is located in the southwestern of Macau Peninsula and named after Lawrence of Rome. This parish was one of five in the former Municipality of Macau, one of Macau's two municipalities that were abolished on 31 December 2001 by Law No. 17/2001, following the 1999 transfer of sovereignty over Macau from Portugal to China. While their administrative functions have since been removed, these parishes are still retained nominally. It was surrounded by water on all sides except north and Southeast. Lapa, Dom João, And Montanha Islands
Wanzai, Small Hengqin and Great Hengqin (Portuguese names: Lapa, Dom João and Montanha) are three islands located to the west of the Macau Peninsula and the Macau islands of Taipa and Coloane that were under Portuguese influence. They were inhabited by a very small Chinese population in its early history. Two of them have since been combined via land reclamation to form the current Hengqin island. The water channels between Small Hengqin, Great Hengqin, Taipa, and Coloane used to be known as Shizimen Channel (literally "cross gate") in Chinese, due to the plus sign-shaped arrangement of water channels between the four islands. A number of maritime battle occurred over the area in the past, but the water channel now disappeared due to land reclamation connecting Small Hengqin with Great Hengqin and connecting Taipa with Coloane. Zhuhai (, ; Yale: ''Jyūhói''), also known as Chuhai is a prefecture-level city located on the west bank of Pearl River estuary on the central coast of southern Guangdong province, People's Republic of China, on the southeastern edge of Pearl River Delta. Its name literally means "pearl sea", which originates from the city's location at the mouth of the Pearl River meeting the South China Sea. Shekou () is an area at the southern tip of Nanshan District, Shenzhen, Guangdong Province, China. It faces Yuen Long, Hong Kong across the Shenzhen Bay. It has been designated as a Free Trade Zone by the government, alongside Qianhai, Hengqin and Nansha New Area. History The area was formerly a customs station of Bao'an County. The Taipa Ferry Terminal (; pt, Terminal Marítimo de Passageiros da Taipa) is located in Taipa, Macau SAR. It is located in the reclamation area of Pac On and is adjacent to the Macau International Airport. The terminal provides high-speed passenger ferry services from Macau to Hong Kong, Zhuhai, Shenzhen and Dongguan. Prior to the opening of the permanent passenger terminal, in order to speed up the pressure of diverting the Outer Harbour Ferry Terminal, the Taipa Temporary Ferry Terminal was built and opened on 16 October 2007. Transport in Macau includes road, sea, rail and air transport. Road transport is the primary mode of transport within Macau, although a new rail system opened in December 2019 serving the areas of Taipa and Cotai. Macau Peninsula
The Macau Peninsula is the most populous and historical part of Macau. It has an area of () and is geographically connected to Guangdong Province at the northeast through an isthmus wide. The peninsula, together with downtown Zhuhai, sits on an island separated from the continent by distributaries of the Pearl River.
