Ingvald Svinsås-Lo
Ingvald Svinsås-Lo (26 December 1897 – 1 June 1980) was a Norwegian politician for the Liberal Party. He was elected to the Norwegian Parliament from Sør-Trøndelag in 1945, but was not re-elected in 1949. Born in Meldal, Svinsås-Lo was a member of Meldal municipal council from 1928 to 1959, except for the years 1940 to 1945 during the German occupation of Norway The occupation of Norway by Nazi Germany during the Second World War began on 9 April 1940 after Operation Weserübung. The Liberal Party ( no, Venstre, lit=Left, V; se, Gurutbellodat) is a centrist political party in Norway. It was founded in 1884 and it is the oldest political party in Norway. It is positioned in the centre on the political spectrum, and it is a liberal party which has over the time enacted reforms such as parliamentarism, freedom of religion, universal suffrage, and state schooling. The Storting ( no, Stortinget ) (lit. the Great Thing) is the supreme legislature of Norway, established in 1814 by the Constitution of Norway. It is located in Oslo. The unicameral parliament has 169 members and is elected every four years based on party-list proportional representation in nineteen multi-seat constituencies. A member of Stortinget is known in Norwegian as a ''stortingsrepresentant'', literally "Storting representative". Sør-Trøndelag
Sør-Trøndelag () was a county comprising the southern portion of the present-day Trøndelag county in Norway. It bordered the old Nord-Trøndelag county as well as the counties of Møre og Romsdal, Oppland, and Hedmark. To the west is the Norwegian Sea (Atlantic Ocean), and to the east is Jämtland in Sweden. The county was separated into a northern and southern part by the Trondheimsfjord. Slightly over 200,000 of the county's population (or around 55%) lives in the city of Trondheim and its suburbs. Meldal
Meldal is a former municipality in Trøndelag county, Norway. The municipality existed from 1838 until its dissolution in 2020 when it joined Orkland Municipality. It was part of the Orkdalen region. The administrative centre of the municipality was the village of Meldal. Other villages included Løkken Verk, Bjørnli, Å, and Storås. The municipality was most renowned for its mining activities at Løkken Verk, being the birthplace of the ''Orkla mining company'', now Orkla Group. It was also home to the annual Storåsfestivalen music festival. At the time of its dissolution in 2020, the municipality was the 184th largest by area out of the 422 municipalities in Norway.
