Ingende Airport is an airstrip serving Ingende, a village on the Ruki River in Équateur Province, Democratic Republic of the Congo. The runway is west of Ingende. The Mbandaka VOR/DME (Ident: MBA) is located west-southwest of the airstrip. Ingende
Ingende is a town in the Province of Équateur in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, the headquarters of Ingende Territory. Location Ingende is on the south shore of the Ruki River just downstream of the confluence of the Momboyo River and the Busira River. The nearby Ingende Airport (FZEI) has a runway. The N8 highway passes through the town, crossing the Ruki River by ferry. The Ingende Territory stretches to the south and east of Ingende, bounded by the Busira River to the north and the Salonga River The Salonga River is a river in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. An aerodrome, airfield, or airstrip is a location from which aircraft flight operations take place, regardless of whether they involve air cargo, passengers, or neither, and regardless of whether it is for public or private use. Ruki River
The Ruki () is a river in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. It is a left tributary of the Congo River. It may be seen as the lower reach of the Busira River, which in turn may be seen as the lower reach of the Tshuapa River. Location The Ruki is a major river in the Cuvette Centrale of the middle Congo River basin. The watershed covers about . The drainage basin is almost entirely pristine lowland forest and swamp forest. As of 2020, 248 species of fish had been identified in 26 families. The main rivers are the Ruki-Busira, Momboyo-Luilaka, Tshuapa, Lomela and Salonga. The most important town in the river basin is Boende on the Tshuapa, upstream from where it joins the Lomela to form the Busira. Province Of Équateur
Équateur is one of the 21 newest provinces of the Democratic Republic of the Congo created by the 2015 repartitioning. The provinces of Équateur, Mongala, Nord-Ubangi, Sud-Ubangi, and Tshuapa are the result of the division of the former Équateur province. The current province was formed from the Équateur district and the independently administered city of Mbandaka which retained its status as a provincial capital. The 2020 population was estimated to be 1,856,000. History The province of Équateur created in 1917 was much larger than today. Over time it went through a number of border and name changes. VOR/DME
In radio navigation, a VOR/DME is a radio beacon that combines a VHF omnidirectional range (VOR) with a distance-measuring equipment (DME). The VOR allows the receiver to measure its bearing to or from the beacon, while the DME provides the slant distance between the receiver and the station. Together, the two measurements allow the receiver to compute a position fix. The VOR system was first introduced in the 1930s, but did not enter significant commercial use until the early 1950s. It became much more practical with the introduction of low-cost solid state receivers in the 1960s. DME was a modification of World War II-era navigation systems like Gee-H, and began development in 1946. Transport In The Democratic Republic Of The Congo
Ground transport in the Democratic Republic of the Congo has always been problematic. Despite other countries being able to conquer terrain and climate similar to that of the Congo Basin it is chronic economic mismanagement and internal conflict that has led to serious under-investment over many years. On the other hand, the Democratic Republic of Congo, DRC has thousands of kilometres of navigable waterways. Historically water transport has been the dominant means of moving around a large part of the country.
