Inge Thomson
Inge Thomson (born 23 October 1974) is a Scottish singer and multi-instrumentalist. Born in Fair Isle, Shetland, Scotland, she is a founding member of Harem Scarem and plays accordion and percussion in Karine Polwart's band. She has played with groups including the Broken Family Band The Broken Family Band was a British rock band from Cambridge and London. The band was formed in Cambridge, England by Steven Adams, Jay Williams, Micky Roman and Gavin Johnson in 2001, following the break-up of Adams and Williams' indie ro ... in which she recorded on their albums ''The King Will Build a Disco'', '' Jesus Songs'' and ''Cold Water Songs'', and was a longtime member of Shetland band Drop the Box. Fair Isle ( ; ), sometimes Fairisle, is the southernmost Shetland island, situated roughly from the Shetland Mainland and about from North Ronaldsay (the most northerly island of Orkney). The entire archipelago lies off the northernmost coast of Scotland, in the North Sea. As the most remote inhabited island in the United Kingdom (and among the most northerly settlements in Great Britain), Fair Isle is known for its wild bird observatory, interesting historic shipwrecks, Scottish and Shetland-style traditional music, and its traditional style of knitting, also called " Fair Isle".
