Little House On The Prairie
The ''Little House on the Prairie'' books comprise a series of American children's novels written by Laura Ingalls Wilder (b. Laura Elizabeth Ingalls). The stories are based on her childhood and adulthood in the Midwestern United States, American Midwest (Wisconsin, Kansas, Minnesota, South Dakota, and Missouri) between 1872–94. Eight of the novels were completed by Wilder, and published by Harper & Brothers in the 1930s and 1940s, during her lifetime. The name "Little House" appears in the first and third novels in the series, while the third is identically titled ''Little House on the Prairie (novel), Little House on the Prairie''. The second novel, meanwhile, was about her husband's childhood. The first draft of a ninth novel was published posthumously in 1971 and is commonly included in the series. Almanzo James Wilder (February 13, 1859 – October 23, 1949) was an American farmer as well as the husband of Laura Ingalls Wilder and the father of Rose Wilder Lane, both noted authors. Biography Early life Wilder was born on his family's homestead in rural Burke, New York, a few miles from the town of Malone. Most sources give Wilder's birth date as February 13, 1857. Nellie Oleson
Nellie Oleson is a fictional character in the Little House series of autobiographical children's novels written by Laura Ingalls Wilder. She was portrayed by Alison Arngrim in the NBC television show ''Little House on the Prairie (TV series), Little House on the Prairie'' (1974 to 1983), where her role is much expanded. Edwin Hyde "Robert" Alden (January 14, 1836 – May 6, 1911) was an American Congregational minister. He was one of the many real people upon whom Laura Ingalls Wilder based a character in the ''Little House on the Prairie'' series of books and the NBC television series of the same name. A direct descendant of John Alden and Priscilla Mullins of the Mayflower. Life and work Alden was born in Windsor, Vermont. He was the founding pastor of the First Congregational Church of Waseca, Minnesota in 1868, the first organized church in that town. Mr. Edwards is a character that appeared in the Little House series of autobiographical children's novels written by Laura Ingalls Wilder. His character was later adapted for the NBC television show, ''Little House on the Prairie'' and given the name "Isaiah Edwards."
