Inez Y. Fung
Inez Fung (; born April 11, 1949) is a professor of atmospheric science at the University of California, Berkeley, jointly appointed in the department of earth and planetary science and the department of environmental science, policy and management. She is also the co-director of the Berkeley Institute of the Environment. She is a member of both the National Academy of Sciences and the American Philosophical Society and a fellow in both the American Geophysical Union and the American Meteorological Society. Since 2021, she has been a member of the President’s Council of Advisors on Science and Technology (PCAST). Early life and education Inez Fung was born and grew up in Hong Kong, which was then a British colony. She spoke Chinese at home and learned English at school. Lamont–Doherty Earth Observatory
The Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory (LDEO) is a research, research institution specializing in the Earth science and climate change. Though part of Columbia University, it is located on a separate closed campus in Palisades, New York. The observatory was one of the centers of research that led to the development of the theory of plate tectonics as well as many other notable scientific developments. Meteorology
Meteorology is the scientific study of the Earth's atmosphere and short-term atmospheric phenomena (i.e. weather), with a focus on weather forecasting. It has applications in the military, aviation, energy production, transport, agriculture, construction, weather warnings and disaster management.
