Indios De Cartagena
Indios de Cartagena (''Cartagena Indians'') were a baseball team active in the Colombian Professional Baseball League. Founded in the league's inaugural 1948 season by Juan González Cornet, the team was one of the most successful in Colombian baseball. History Indios was the first professional baseball team in Colombia, founded in March 1948 by Juan González Cornet and sponsored by Cigarillos Piel Roja ( ''Redskin Cigarettes''); it gained its name from Pielroja's mascot, a stereotypical North American Indian. Indios was crowned champion of the inaugural 1948 season. During this era, Indios was the "criollo" team, made up of all-Colombian players, as opposed to other teams including its crosstown rival Torices that used foreign players. Horace Garner
Horace T. Garner (July 17, 1923 – July 6, 1995) was an American baseball outfielder. He played for the Indianapolis Clowns of the Negro American League in 1949 and played in minor league baseball for ten seasons, from 1951 to 1959 and in 1961. In the minor leagues, Garner played in the Boston Braves (later the Milwaukee Braves) farm system. Sports in Colombia includes professional sports leagues, as well as amateur leagues for numerous sports. Football, cycling, and roller skating are the most popular sports in Colombia. Chadwick Chandler Tromp (born March 21, 1995) is an Aruban professional baseball catcher in the Baltimore Orioles organization. He has previously played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the San Francisco Giants and Atlanta Braves. In 2013 he signed with the Cincinnati Reds organization as an international free agent. Daniel Edmund Norman (born January 11, 1955) is an American former professional baseball right fielder who played for the New York Mets and Montreal Expos of Major League Baseball (MLB). His professional career started in the Cincinnati Reds organization but he never played a major league game for the Reds. Cincinnati Reds After playing at Barstow College, Norman was drafted by the Cincinnati Reds in the 15th round of the 1974 amateur draft. He was the 357th overall selection. Orestes Destrade (born May 8, 1962) is a Cuban American former professional baseball infielder. He played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the New York Yankees, Pittsburgh Pirates, and Florida Marlins. Destrade also played in Nippon Professional Baseball (NPB) for the Seibu Lions.
