Indiana Alley Cats
The Indiana Alley Cats were a member of the Continental Basketball Association (CBA). They were based in Anderson, Indiana, and played at Anderson High School Wigwam. The team was part of the American Basketball Association. History The Alley Cats were announced as an expansion franchise for Indianapolis. Later, however, the team moved to Anderson, where they played at O. C. Lewis Gymnasium, on the campus of Anderson University. On the court, the Alley Cats were one of the most successful franchises in ABA history, posting a 27–4 record. Their winning percentage is only topped by that of the 2005–06 Utah Snowbears, who were 25-1. The Alley Cats were coached by Greg Graham. Despite this level of success, the second seed Alley Cats were upset by the 13th seed Strong Island Sound. Off the court, the Alley Cats struggled. Crowds hovered around 400-500 fans. American Basketball Association (2000–present)
The American Basketball Association (ABA) is an American semi-professional men's basketball minor league that was founded in 1999. The ABA has teams based in the United States and previously had international teams based in Canada and Mexico. In the past, there were traveling teams from countries such as Australia and Japan who played in the ABA. Additionally, there were players from other countries that were on a U.S. team to showcase other talented athletes in the country. The current ABA bears no relation to the original American Basketball Association (1967–1976) that was considered a major league, and merged with the National Basketball Association (NBA) in 1976. Jay Brian Fiedler (born December 29, 1971) is a former American football quarterback in the National Football League (NFL). He played 76 games at quarterback in the NFL, starting 60, and threw 69 touchdowns. He was inducted into the National Jewish Museum Sports Hall of Fame in 2002. The Evansville Thunder were a professional basketball team who played in Evansville, Indiana, from 1984 to 1986. The team was a member of the Continental Basketball Association and played at Roberts Municipal Stadium. Evansville had previous experience with professional basketball when it was home to the Evansville Agogans of the National Professional Basketball League from 1950 to 1951. The Fort Wayne Mad Ants are an American professional basketball team of the NBA G League based in Fort Wayne, Indiana, and are affiliated with the Indiana Pacers. The Miami Majesty was a team of the Continental Basketball Association based in Miami-Dade County, Florida. The team was formerly the Florida Pit Bulls, a member of the American Basketball Association, and played their home games in the BankAtlantic Center in Sunrise, Florida. The team, coached by Miami Heat legend Tim Hardaway (who also part-owned and played for the team, hoping to go back to playing for the Miami Heat someday), compiled a record of 19-8 (good for first place in the Barnes-Malone division) in the regular season, despite hurricanes cancelling games and almost wiping out their division.
