Indexi
Indexi was a Bosnian and former Yugoslav rock band popular in Yugoslavia. It formed in 1962 in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and disbanded in 2001 when singer Davorin Popović died. Some of their most notable songs are "Svijet u kome živim" and "Negdje u kraju, u zatišju" with lyrics by Želimir Altarac Čičak, "Plima", "Sve ove godine", "Sanjam" and "Bacila je sve niz rijeku", which was later covered by many other ex-Yugoslavian groups, notably Crvena jabuka. Indexi formed in 1962, and their name was derived from the "Indeks" which was a student's grade log. They began by making instrumental covers of popular hits, but in 1967 started composing. Želimir Altarac Čičak
Želimir "Čičak" Altarac (21 August 1947 – 26 March 2021) was a Bosnian singer-songwriter from Sarajevo. Early life Widely known as Čičak (burdock) for his curly hair, Altarac attended the from 1961 until 1965. During this period he grew increasingly infatuated with Western rock music coming from the United States and the United Kingdom, which had gained a devoted audience among the youth of communist state, communist Yugoslavia. Davorin Popović
Davorin Popović (23 September 1946 – 18 June 2001) was a Bosnian singer and songwriter. Born in Sarajevo and well known throughout the former Yugoslavia, he is considered to be one of the greatest rock singers of the region. Popović was the lead singer and frontman of the progressive and pop rock band Indexi throughout most of their career. The band would become founders of a specific music style in the former Yugoslavia, known as "Sarajevo pop-rock school", which later influenced other bands and singers in Sarajevo and other parts of Yugoslavia. Milić Vukašinović
Milić "Mića" Vukašinović ( sr-cyr, Милић-Мића Вукашиновић; born 9 March 1950) is a Serbian and Yugoslav musician and songwriter, best known as the vocalist, guitarist and songwriter of the hard rock and heavy metal band Vatreni Poljubac. Vukašinović has also recorded a number of solo albums, and was a one-time drummer for popular rock bands Indexi and Bijelo Dugme. Vukašinović started his career in Sarajevo in the mid-1960s, playing in local bands. In 1970, he became the drummer for Indexi, and in 1976 joined Bijelo Dugme as a temporary replacement for their drummer Ipe Ivandić, recording the album '' Eto! Baš hoću!'' with the group. Slobodan Kovačević
Slobodan "Bodo" Kovačević (29 December 1946 – 22 March 2004) was a rock guitarists in former Yugoslavia. He began his musical career in the early sixties with the Sarajevo band "Wanderers" and few years later in the mid sixties joined Indexi, where Davorin Popović was already a singer. Biography In 1978, together with other members of Indexi, he received the April 6 Award from the city of Sarajevo. That same year, he won the JRT (Yugoslav Radio and Television) award for his thematic masterpiece concept album "Dark-Blue River", which was declared album of the year in Yugoslavia. Sinan Alimanović (born 11 February 1954) is a Bosnian jazz pianist, organist, composer, conductor, arranger and educator. Đorđe Novković
Đorđe Novković (; 2 September 1943 - 6 May 2007) was a Croatian songwriter of partly Serbian descent who was known for his work in Yugoslavia and Croatia. Novković composed more than 2,500 songs and sold approximately 20 million records. He is also known as the father of popular Croatian singer Boris Novković. Biography Novković was born to a Serb father Vukašin and a Croat mother Danica during World War II in the village of Vladimirci on the German-occupied territory of what only a few years earlier used to be Kingdom of Yugoslavia's Drina Banovina. He moved to Sarajevo at an early age, so his musical talent was discovered very early, and he joined the musical school in Sarajevo at the age of 6. Vladimir "Vlado" Pravdić (6 December 1949 – 5 December 2023) was a Bosnian musician who was the organist of the Yugoslav rock group Bijelo Dugme from 1974 to 1976 and again from 1978 to 1987. Biography Born in Sarajevo, PR Bosnia and Herzegovina, FPR Yugoslavia as the only child of a Croat father and a Ukrainian mother. Pravdić's parents divorced during his adolescence as the youngster remained living with his mother. He enrolled in musical school at the age of seven and learned to play the piano.
