Club Atlético Independiente (sometimes referred as Independiente de Cañete) is a Peruvian football club, playing in the city of Cañete, Lima, Peru. History The Club Atlético Independiente was founded on August 30, 1938. In 2004 Copa Perú, the club qualified to the National Stage, but was eliminated by Olímpico Somos Perú in the Round of 16. In 2006 Copa Perú, the club qualified to the Departamental Stage, but was eliminated by Jesús del Valle in the Semifinals. In 2018 Copa Perú, the club qualified to the Departamental Stage, but was eliminated by Defensor Laure Sur in the Quarterfinals. Rivalries Independiente has had a long-standing rivalry with local club Walter Ormeño. San Vicente De Cañete
San Vicente de Cañete, commonly known as San Vicente or Cañete, is a city and capital of the Cañete Province, in southern Lima Region. With a population of 85,533 (2015 estimate). The warm and peaceful town of Cañete is located just one and a half hour to the south of Lima (144 km) and serves, for tourists, primarily as a gateway to the Lunahuaná District. The Plaza de Armas lies on 2 de Mayo, a few blocks inland from the spot on the Pan-American Highway, where buses pause for passengers to get on or off. All buses heading south from Lima or north to Lima on the Pan-American Highway pass through Cañete. This is one of the most important homes of the most representative liquor from Peru: the Pisco. Walter Ormeño De Cañete
Club Deportivo Walter Ormeño (sometimes referred as Walter Ormeño de Cañete) is a Peruvian football club, playing in the city of Cañete, Lima, Peru. History The Club Deportivo Walter Ormeño was founded on October 10, 1950. It was named Club Walter Ormeño, in honor of Walter Ormeño, who was the goalkeeper from Universitario de Deportes; most of the founders were supporters of the team. The Club Deportivo Walter Ormeno originally played in the San Vicente District League in the beginning but it moved to the Imperial District League where it would see much of its early success. The team won the 1970 Lima Department League. In 1974, The Peruvian Football Federation promoted all eight regional Copa Peru champions to the 1974 Torneo Descentralizado. The Peruvian football league system is a complex system. Though the general outline includes the Liga 1, Liga 2, Liga 3 and Copa Perú. The Copa Perú is very large involving several stages and leagues within it. In addition, the Copa Perú is played within a year. The Copa Perú is a association football, football tournament in Peru and the fourth-highest division of the Peruvian football league system. The 2018 Peru Cup season (), the largest amateur tournament of Peruvian football, started in February. This edition has featured a change, with the elimination of the Regional Stage and the inclusion of participants from all the Regions of Peru in the National Stage.
