Independent Workers' Union Of Great Britain
The Independent Workers' Union of Great Britain (IWGB) is a trade union in the United Kingdom. The IWGB is composed of eleven branches which organise workers within their chosen industry, run their own campaigns and have their own representative officials. The IWGB is one of the main trade unions in challenging employment law relating to the 'gig economy'. The IWGB organises workers particularly in precarious employment and un-unionised sectors. In addition, the IWGB also engages in grassroots activism not traditionally associated with trade unions. Formation The IWGB began in part from dispute with Unite the Union, Unite and UNISON stemming from disagreements over how to get better working conditions for cleaners at the University of London, and more disagreements more broadly about how modern trade unions should be run. Progressive International (PI) is an international political organisation that unites and mobilises Progressivism, progressive Left-wing politics, left-wing activists and groups. The organisation works with over 70 member groups. Game Workers Unite
Game Workers Unite is a worker-run, labor rights group seeking to organize the video game industry. Founded during events surrounding the March 2018 Game Developers Conference, the flat organization has grown to over a thousand members across more than 20 international chapters. Its goal is a single union for all games workers, including artists, designers, producers, and programmers. Game Workers Unite has supported actions including Riot Games's 2019 walkout over sex discrimination and social media campaigns against CEOs who executed layoffs. Industrial unionism is a trade union organising method through which all workers in the same industry are organized into the same union, regardless of skill or trade, thus giving workers in one industry, or in all industries, more leverage in bargaining and in strike situations. The Industrial Workers of the World (IWW), whose members are nicknamed "Wobblies", is an international labor union founded in Chicago, United States in 1905. The nickname's origin is uncertain. United Voices of the World (UVW) is an independent grassroots trade union in the United Kingdom established in London in 2014. Members of the union are mainly those in insecure work, such as low-wage workers in the 'gig economy' and Outsourcing, outsourced industries. The union represents those working as cleaners, carers, couriers, bar staff, security guards, architcts, designers, and charity workers. The UVW has a strong association with the Latin American community, with many members being immigrant workers from Latin America. Trade unions in the United Kingdom emerged in the early 19th century, but faced punitive laws that sharply limited their activities. They began political activity in the late 19th century and formed an alliance with the Liberal Party in the early 20th century.
