Independent Television Network Ltd (; ) also known as ITN Ltd or simply as ITN is a Sri Lankan state-governed television and radio broadcaster located in Wickramasinghepura, Battaramulla, Sri Lanka. It is a Shrama Abhimani Award winner (Oct 2009) . It broadcasts content to a wide demographic within Sri Lanka and the expatriate community. The programmes are broadcast in three languages: Sinhala language, Sinhala, Tamil language, Tamil, and English. The ITN broadcast coverage extends to 99% of Sri Lanka. The ITN channel is the flagship television channel of ITN Ltd. ITN further operates three FM radio stations; Lakhanda radio, Lakhanda (Former ITN FM), the Sinhala language service; Vasantham FM, the Tamil language service and Prime Radio, the English language service. Vasantham TV (Tamil: வசந்தம் தொலைக்காட்சி) (also known as Wasanthan TV) is a Tamil language television channel which broadcasts in Sri Lanka. The channel is operated by the Independent Television Network Limited (ITN Ltd), which is a state governed television and radio broadcaster in Sri Lanka. The channel commenced transmission on 25 June 2009. Sri Lanka Broadcasting Corporation
The Sri Lanka Broadcasting Corporation (SLBC) (, ''Shrī Lankā Guvan Viduli Sansthāva'', , ''Ilangkai Oliparappuk Kūṭṭuttāpaṉam'') came into existence on 5 January 1967 when Radio Ceylon became a public corporation. Dudley Senanayake who was the Prime Minister of Ceylon in 1967 ceremonially opened the newly established Ceylon Broadcasting Corporation along with Minister Ranasinghe Premadasa and the Director-General of the CBC, Neville Jayaweera. The first board of Directors of CBC consisted of Mr Neville Jayaweera (CCS), Mr A. L. M. Hashim, Mr Dharmasiri Kuruppu, Mr K.A.G. Perera and Mr Devar Surya Sena. Thevis Guruge (died 23 July 1989) was a distinguished broadcaster with Radio Ceylon and subsequently the Sri Lanka Broadcasting Corporation. He was the first Sinhala Announcer with Radio Ceylon, the oldest radio station in South Asia. Deshabandu Shanthilal Nilkantha Wickremesinghe, popularly as Shan Wickremesinghe (born 20 December 1947), is a Sri Lankan media proprietor, television presenter and a broadcast engineer. London Weekend Television (LWT; now part of the non-franchised ITV London region) was the ITV (TV network), ITV network franchise holder for Greater London and the Home Counties at weekends, broadcasting from Fridays at 5.15 pm (7:00 pm from 1968 until 1982) to Monday mornings at 6:00.
