Independent Platform Of The North
The Independent Platform of the North ( hr, Nezavisna Platforma Sjever, NPS) is a regionalist political party in Croatia led by Matija Posavec, the prefect of Međimurje County since 2013. Its headquarters is located in Čakovec. Initially founded as an electoral list in March 2021 prior to that year's local elections, it took on its current name in July 2023. The party is positioned on the political centre and seeks to gather independent lists from the region. Posavec was previously a member of the social liberal Croatian People's Party (HNS) and its Međimurje branch leader, until he left in 2019. He resigned as county prefect in September 2021 after a bribery affair was revealed and he was arrested. He initially confessed to accepting a 10 thousand kuna bribe, but later retracted the confession and successfully ran for a new mandate as county prefect in a special election. 2013 Croatian Local Elections
The 2013 Croatian local elections were held on 19 May, with the second round held on 2 June where necessary. The elections were held to elect members of city councils, mayors, members of county councils and county prefects. The turnout was 47%, and 43% in the second round. Summary of mayoral results In Zagreb, populist right-wing and former Social Democrat Milan Bandić won 47.9% of the vote against Social Democrat Health Minister Rajko Ostojić's 22.7%. Bandic received a two-thirds majority in the second round. The incumbent mayor of Split, Željko Kerum, placed third with 18.54% of the vote and was eliminated from the second round which was narrowly won by the Socialist candidate Ivo Baldasar. Centre ( hr, Centar) is a liberal political party in Croatia. The party was formed under the name ''Pametno'' ( en, Intelligently) in Split in 2015 out of the citizens' initiative ''Za pametne ljude i pametan grad'' ("For smart people and a smart city"). 2024 Croatian Parliamentary Election
Parliamentary elections were held in Croatia on 17 April 2024 to elect the members of the 11th Sabor. Prior to the elections, the government consisted of a coalition of the Croatian Democratic Union and Independent Democratic Serb Party, with parliamentary support of five national minority MPs, two MPs from the Croatian Social Liberal Party and Croatian Demochristian Party, and one independent MP, Silvano Hrelja. Croatian Parliament
The Croatian Parliament ( hr, Hrvatski sabor) or the Sabor is the unicameral legislature of the Republic of Croatia. Under the terms of the Croatian Constitution, the Sabor represents the people and is vested with legislative power. The Sabor is composed of 151 members elected to a four-year term on the basis of direct, universal and equal suffrage by secret ballot. Seats are allocated according to the Croatian Parliament electoral districts: 140 members of the parliament are elected in multi-seat constituencies. Nova TV is a Croatian free-to-air television network launched on 28 May 2000. It was the first commercial television network with national concession in the country and from 2004 until 2018 it was fully owned by the Central European Media Enterprises. The kuna is the currency of Croatia, in use since 1994 ( sign: kn; code: HRK). It is subdivided into 100 lipa. The kuna is issued by the Croatian National Bank and the coins are minted by the Croatian Mint. The plural form of the word kuna in Croatian can be ''kuna'' or ''kune'' (e.g. ''2 kune'', ''10 kuna'') because of different number declension rules. 2022 will be the final year for the kuna as Croatia will replace it with the euro (€, EUR) on 1 January 2023.
