A zamindar in the Indian subcontinent was an autonomous or semi-autonomous feudal lord of a ''zamindari'' (feudal estate). The term itself came into use during the Mughal Empire, when Persian was the official language; ''zamindar'' is the Persian for ''landowner''. Shafi Inamdar (23 October 1946 – 13 March 1996) was an Indian actor. He started his film career with the film '' Vijeta'' and continued it in '' Ardh Satya''. He acted in a number of television serials including '' Yeh Jo Hai Zindagi''. Lakshman Rao Madhav Rao Inamdar, (19 September 1917 – 1985) popularly known as Vakil Saheb, is the founder of Sahkar Bharti. He was one of the founding fathers of the RSS in Gujarat. He is credited with inducting Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi as an RSS balswayamsevak (junior cadet) and becoming Modi's political mentor.
