Inah Canabarro Lucas (also known as Sister Inah; born 8 June 1908) is a Brazilian nun and supercentenarian who has been the world's oldest living nun since the death of Lucile Randon on 17 January 2023. Biography Canabarro was born on 8 June 1908 in São Francisco de Assis, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil to Joao Antonio Lucas and Mariana Canabarro Lucas. She worked as a kindergarten teacher at Santa Tereza de Jesus High School, having taught João Figueiredo, the 30th president of Brazil. Additionally, she is the great-granddaughter of General David Canabarro, who fought in the Ragamuffin War. The Ragamuffin War (Portuguese: ''Guerra dos Farrapos'' or ''Revolução Farroupilha'') was a Republican uprising that began in southern Brazil, in the province (current state) of Rio Grande do Sul in 1835. The rebels were led by generals Bento Gonçalves da Silva and Antônio de Sousa Neto with the support of the Italian fighter Giuseppe Garibaldi. The war ended with an agreement between the two sides known as Green Poncho Treaty (Portuguese: ) in 1845. David José Martins, known as David Canabarro (born 22 August 1796, Taquari - died 1867, Santana do Livramento) was a Brazilian general. Biography Canabarro was born to José Martins Coelho (from Porto Alegre) and Mariana de Jesus Ignacia (from Santa Catarina Island, Santa Catarina). The surname "Canabarro" came from his grandfather, Manuel Teodósio Ferreira, who received the nickname from Luís Teles da Silva Caminha e Meneses, 5th Marquis of Alegrete, and added it to his own name. João Baptista de Oliveira Figueiredo (; 15 January 1918 – 24 December 1999) was a Brazilian military leader and politician who was the 30th president of Brazil from 1979 to 1985, the last of the military regime that ruled the country following the 1964 Brazilian countercoup d'état. He was chief of the Secret Service (SNI) during the term of his predecessor, Ernesto Geisel, who appointed him to the presidency at the end of his own mandate.
