''In the End It Always Does'' is the second studio album by English indie pop musician Amber Bain, under the name the Japanese House. It was released on 30 June 2023 through Dirty Hit. The 12 tracks run 45 minutes. The album was received positively. Background The record was written in late 2021 and sees the musician "returning to her muse". Inspiration came from her "current relationship to her identity" and "growing up queer", mainly tackled by the lead single "Boyhood". The album came together as a result of all the relationships she has begun and lost over the years. Furthermore, it explores her experience of moving to Margate for a relationship that eventually came to an end. Amber Mary Bain (born 13 July 1995), known professionally as the Japanese House, is an English indie pop musician from Buckinghamshire. Bain contributes vocals and plays guitar, synthesizer and keyboard for her music. Bain decided to pursue a career in music as a teenager. She began writing music under the moniker The Japanese House in 2012, after being introduced to Matty Healy of the 1975, who offered to help produce her music under the label Dirty Hit. She first rose to prominence after the release of her first single, "Still", which was a critical success and premiered on BBC Radio 1. Catherine Hope Gavin is an American singer-songwriter and musician from Winnetka, Illinois, who is a member of the pop band Muna (band), MUNA. Phil Cook (musician)
Phil Cook is an American guitarist, banjoist, pianist and singer. He is a member of the freak-folk band Megafaun. Before he became a member of Megafaun, Cook was part of DeYarmond Edison, a band led by Bon Iver's Justin Vernon. He also plays in the band Gayngs as well as the Vernon-fronted Shouting Matches. Additionally, he is affiliated with MC Taylor and his band Hiss Golden Messenger. Beyond his musical career, Cook worked at the Center for Inquiry Based Learning at Duke University where he "assembled hands-on science kits for elementary schools." Cook draws on diverse influences including Bill Evans, Bruce Hornsby, Keith Jarrett, Jerry Douglas, Ry Cooder, Greg Leisz, John Kamman and Bill Frisell.
