In-Fidelity
In-Fidelity Recordings is a record label founded in September 2002 by Bruce Milne and Steven Stavrakis. Bruce Milne established the Au Go Go label and Stavrakis was co-founder of Waterfront Records and Fellaheen. Between them they have worked with such seminal Australian acts as Magic Dirt, Spiderbait, Ratcat, The Meanies, The Hardons, The Scientists, Ben Lee, Snout and Eastern Dark. They have also been involved in introducing international acts such as Sonic Youth, Jon Spencer Blues Explosion, Pavement, Dinosaur Jr, Mudhoney and Butthole Surfers to an Australian audience. The first release on the label was the debut album from The Datsuns. The band had been feted by major labels around the world, finally signing a one-album deal with V2 Records in all territories outside Australia and New Zealand where they chose to go with In-Fidelity. The Datsuns
The Datsuns are a hard rock band from Cambridge, New Zealand, formed in 1998. Founding mainstays are Rudolf "Dolf" de Borst on vocals and bass guitar, and Christian Livingstone and Phil Somervell, both on guitar. They have released seven albums, with their debut self-titled album from October 2002 peaking at No. 1 in New Zealand and reaching the top 20 on the United Kingdom's Official Charts. They had relocated to London in 2002. Their second album, '' Outta Sight/Outta Mind'' (May 2004), appeared at No. 7 in New Zealand and top 60 in the UK. The Drones (Australian Band)
The Drones were an Australian rock music, rock band, formed in Perth by mainstay lead vocalist and guitarist Gareth Liddiard in 1997. Fiona Kitschin, his domestic partner, joined on bass guitar and vocals in 2002. Other long-term members include Rui Pereira on bass guitar and then lead guitar; Mike Noga on drums, vocals, harmonica and percussion; and Dan Luscombe on lead guitar, vocals and keyboards. Their second album, ''Wait Long by the River and the Bodies of Your Enemies Will Float By'' (April 2005), won the inaugural Australian Music Prize. In October 2010 their third studio album, ''Gala Mill'' (September 2006) was listed at No. 21 in the book, ''100 Best Australian Albums''. Bruce Milne
Bruce Milne (born 1957) is an Australian radio presenter and music journalist. He co-founded Au-Go-Go Records and the cassette magazine ''Fast Forward'', and was owner of The Tote Hotel. Career Milne began his career in the 1970s hosting music programs on Swinburne Tech radio, 3CR Melbourne, and community radio station 3RRR. He co-founded ''Pulp'', a punk fanzine created with Clinton Walker in 1977, and went onto edit '' Roadrunner'', another music magazine which launched in March 1978. Milne left the magazine as it didn't make enough money and began working for Missing Link Records. Between November 1978 - October 1982 he co-edited the audio cassette magazine ''Fast Forward'' with co-founder Andrew Maine. The Dirtbombs
The Dirtbombs are an American garage rock band based in Detroit, Michigan, notable for blending diverse influences such as punk rock and soul, while featuring a dual bass guitar, dual drum and guitar lineup. The Dirtbombs were formed by Mick Collins (of the influential garage punk band The Gories) as a side project and started recording songs by 1995. Au Go Go Records
Au Go Go Records is the name of a Melbourne, Australia based independent record label. It was founded by Bruce Milne and Philip Morland from a house in Brunswick Street, Fitzroy in 1979 and was later operated by Greta Moon. The label started releasing bands on the Melbourne punk and new wave scene. Its first release was in 1979 with the EP ''Overnight'' by Two Way Garden. The label's first 25 releases included debut recordings of some seminal Australian acts such as Crackajacks, Marching Girls, Clint Small, Scapa Flow, Little Murders, the Zorros, Dorian Gray and Plays With Marionettes (later The Wreckery, featuring Hugo Race). Sophie Koh is an Australian singer and songwriter. Biography Born in New Zealand, Sophie Koh grew up both there and in Singapore. She got her LMusA (Licentiate in Music Australia, a diploma) when she was just 16 years old and spent her early years majoring in classical piano at the Melbourne Conservatory of Music. After finishing university in Melbourne, where she qualified as an optometrist, she headed to Darwin where she won Triple J's Unearthed contest. She launched her debut album, ''All The Pretty Boys'', in 2005. She released her follow-up album, ''All Shook Up'', in 2008. The album was produced by J. Walker (Machine Translations). Butthole Surfers are an American rock band formed in San Antonio, Texas, by singer Gibby Haynes and guitarist Paul Leary in 1981.
