Imre Timkó
Imre Timkó (13 August 1920 – 30 March 1988) was a Hungarian Greek Catholic hierarch. He was bishop of the Hungarian Greek Catholic Eparchy of Hajdúdorog from 1972 to 1988 and Apostolic Administrator of Apostolic Exarchate of Miskolc from 1972 to 1988. Born in Budapest, Hungary in 1920, he was ordained a priest on 8 December 1945. He was appointed the Bishop by the Holy See on 7 January 1975. He was consecrated to the Episcopate on 8 February 1975. The principal consecrator was Bishop Joakim Segedi, and the principal co-consecrators were Archbishop József Ijjas and Archbishop József Bánk. Hungarian Greek Catholic Church
The Hungarian Greek Catholic Church or the Byzantine Catholic Church in Hungary is a '' sui iuris'' (autonomous) Eastern Catholic church based in Hungary. As a particular church of the Catholic Church, it is in full communion with the Holy See. Its liturgical usage is that of the Byzantine Rite in the Hungarian language. History Hungary's Greek Catholics were originally concentrated in what is now northeastern Hungary. This region was historically inhabited by Byzantine Rite Christians from the Carpathian Mountains (Ruthenians and Romanians). Serbs fleeing the Turkish advance arrived later in what was then Hungary, but most stayed in the area that is now part of Serbia. Later still, when the Turks were driven back from Vienna in 1683 and from Buda and central Hungary in 1686, Ruthenians and Slovaks settled in the abandoned lands of Hungary. Szilárd Keresztes (born July 19, 1932, in NyÃracsád, Hungary) is a Hungarian Greek Catholic bishop. He had been Bishop of Hajdúdorog and apostolic administrator of the Apostolic Exarchate of Miskolc from 1975 to 2008. Life He studied philosophy and theology between 1950 and 1955 at the Greek Catholic Major Seminary of NyÃregyháza. He was ordained priest by Bishop Miklós Dudás OSBM of Hajdúdorog in 1955. He earned a doctorate in sacred theology in 1957 at the Pázmány Péter Catholic University, Pázmány Péter Academy of Theology in Budapest. He served as parish pastor in Kispest, Budapest from 1957 to 1960. Between 1960 and 1970 he was associate pastor and chanter in NyÃregyháza, where he also taught philosophy, dogmatic theology and catechetics. In 1966 he won a scholarship to study at the Pontifical Oriental Institute in Rome, Italy as a student of the Pontifical Hungarian Institute for three years, where he obtained a licentiate in eastern theology. Miklós Dudás OSBM (27 October 1902 – 15 July 1972) was a Hungarian Greek Catholic hierarch. He was bishop of the Hungarian Greek Catholic Eparchy of Hajdúdorog from 1939 to 1972, Apostolic Administrator of the Ruthenian Catholic Eparchy of Mukacheve from 1943 to 1946 and Apostolic Administrator of Apostolic Exarchate of Miskolc from 1946 to 1972. Joakim Segedi (27 October 1904 – 20 March 2004) was a Ruthenian and Byzantine Church of Croatia, Serbia and Montenegro, Croatian Greek Catholic hierarch. He was auxiliary bishop as Titular Bishop of Gypsaria from 1963 to 1984 of the Eastern Catholic Eparchy of Križevci. In 17 March 2004, three days before his death, was elevated in rank of the titular archbishop with the same titular see of Gypsaria.
