Imperial Consort Boknyeong Gwi-in
Imperial Consort Boknyeong Gwi-in of the Cheongju Yang clan (; 27 September 1882 – 30 May 1929), was a consort of Emperor Gojong of Korea. Her personal name was Yang Chun-gi (). She entered Deoksugung Palace as a court lady on March 10, 1905. After the birth of the Princess Deokhye on May 25, 1912, she received the title "Boknyeong" (). Lady Yang died on May 30, 1929, and is buried at Seosamreung, in Goyang, Gyeonggi Province. Cheongju Yang clan () is one of the Korean clans. Their Bon-gwan is in Cheongju, North Chungcheong Province. According to the research held in 2015, the number of Cheongju Yang clan’s member was 38161. Their founder was who was a 43 th descendant of in Han dynasty. When Yang Gi was a ''Jinzi Guanglu Daifu'' (), Princess Noguk had a marriage to an ordinary person planned by Gongmin of Goryeo. Because of this, Yang Gi entered Goryeo as a fatherly master of the Queen. Yang Gi became ''Gongsin'' () because he made a lot of contribution to diplomacy in Goryeo and Yuan dynasty. Gojong (; 8 September 1852 – 21 January 1919), personal name Yi Myeongbok (), later Yi Hui (), also known as the Gwangmu Emperor (), was the penultimate List of monarchs of Korea, Korean monarch. He ruled Korea for 43 years, from 1864 to 1907, first as the last king of Joseon, and then as the first Korean imperial titles#Joseon, emperor of the Korean Empire from 1897 until his forced abdication in 1907. Deoksugung
Deoksugung (), also called Deoksu Palace or Deoksugung Palace, is a former royal palace in Seoul, South Korea. It was the first main palace of the 1897–1910 Korean Empire and is now a major tourist attraction. It has a mix of traditional Korean and Western architecture that reflects its history. Inside the palace are the Daehan Empire History Museum and the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Deoksugung branch. The palace was first used as a temporary palace by King Seonjo during the 1592–1598 Imjin War, when the other palaces had been destroyed. In 1611, it was made an official palace named Gyeongungung (it was renamed "Deoksugung" in 1907). The palace then went largely unused until the late 19th century. Princess Deokhye
Princess Deokhye of Korea (; Japanese: 徳恵姫, ''Tokue-hime''; 25 May 191221 April 1989) was the last princess of the Korean royal family. She was born on 25 May 1912, at Changdeok Palace, in Seoul, as the youngest daughter of Emperor Gojong from his concubine, then known as Yang Gwi-in. After her birth, Gojong bestowed the royal title ''Boknyeong'' on Lady Yang. Deokhye was not formally recognized as a princess by Japan because she was not the daughter of a Queen. In 1917, she was officially recognized as a princess by the Japanese government and also her name was formally entered into the imperial family's registry. Her father loved her greatly and established the Deoksugung Kindergarten for her in Junmyungdang (), Hamnyeong Hall. Girls her age from noble families attended the kindergarten. Goyang (; ) is a city in Gyeonggi Province in the north of South Korea. It is part of the Seoul Metropolitan Area, making Goyang one of Seoul's Satellite city, satellite cities. Sō Takeyuki
Count was a Japanese aristocrat, academic and poet. He was the count of the island Tsushima from 1923 to 1985. He was the husband of Princess Deokhye, the last princess of the Korean Empire, and served as a member of the House of Peers. Life Sō was born Kuroda Takeyuki (黒田 武志) on 16 February 1908 as the only son of aristocrat Kuroda Yoriyuki, a self-made lawmaker who was also the judge of the Nagasaki and Yokohama courts. His mother was Kuroda Reiko, the daughter of Kuroda Naoyasu, Lord of Kururi, Kazusa (now Chiba Prefecture). Originally, Kuroda was the sixth son of Yoshiyori, the Lord of Tsushima, but when his wife's father passed away without a son in 1884, he became the heir to the Kuroda family instead.
