Imelda Molokomme
Imelda Mishodzi Molokomme (born 1942) is a feminist activist and community developer from Botswana, "well known for her active role in the gender agenda". Molokomme married at 17, and did not start her university degree until she was 42, and her daughter, Athaliah Molokomme, the country's Attorney General, was one of her lecturers. Early life Imelda Mishodzi Molokomme was born in Botswana, but moved to Cape Town with her father when she was four years old. She returned to Botswana to be educated at secondary school in Mochudi, where she was the only girl in her class. Molokomme did not start a degree until she was 42 years old, and enrolled at the University of Botswana, where her daughter, Athaliah Molokomme, Botswana's Attorney General, was one of her lecturers. University Of Botswana
The University of Botswana, popularly known as UB, was established in 1982 as the first institution of higher education in Botswana. The university has three campuses: one in the capital city Gaborone, one in Francistown, and another in Maun. The university is divided into six faculties: Business, Education, Engineering, Humanities, Science and Social Sciences and the Sir Ketumile Masire Teaching Hospital. Athaliah Molokomme
Athaliah Molokomme was the attorney general of Botswana until 2017 and is the first woman to hold that position. Molokomme has been committed to advocacy for women's rights at conferences, workshops, and seminars around the world. Dr. Athaliah Molokomme was appointed as Permanent Representative of Botswana to the UN in Geneva and Ambassador to Switzerland in May 2018. Early life and education Athaliah Maoka Lesiba Molokomme was born on 4 December 1959 in Francistown, Botswana. She was the second of nine children born to teachers Imelda Mishodzi Molokomme and Rufus Oka Kabiwa. Molokomme holds degrees from the University of Botswana and Swaziland. Mochudi
Mochudi is one of the larger villages in Botswana with a population of 44,815 people in 2011. It is situated in the Bakgatla tribal region, in Kgatleng District, about northeast of Gaborone. The village lies several kilometres from the main Gaborone–Francistown road, and can be accessed through a short turn at Pilane. Mochudi was settled by the Tswana people in 1871. The main attraction in Mochudi is the Phuthadikobo Museum which is perched at the top of a hill and holds a rich history of Bakgatla tribe and Batswana in general. History Mochudi was established as a result of people movements. Under pressure from Boer encroachment on their historic lands, the Bakgatla tribe migrated from what is now South Africa, settling in 1871 at the foot of Phuthadikobo Hill and beside the Notwane River.
